L. Neil Smith. Not that I'd really wish that position on anyone. And I'd want him to have a congress to match. |

I'll opt out. I can't get past all the ramifications of this. If people had their president appointed by me, they would be unhappy and blame me and just not accept it. I guess if I could do it secretly, and everyone would just accept it, I'd go for Ron Paul. But, it's hard to imagine what would happen because a lot would depend on how effective he could be and that would require support for all the stuff he'd want to do and he just doesn't have it. So, either my action also entails everyone suddenly supporting him (a very different world) or not and he'd suck. |

Plato* said that the people who would rule best (the philosophers) would never become rulers with our current system because they would not be inclined to get involve and it takes different qualities to rule than to get to the point of ruling. So it wouldn't be one of the candidates. If I really had to do this, I'd research, and choose someone heavily involved in political theory and I'd quiz them on their beliefs and that. I'd make sure they loved wisdom and that they didn't believe in the Forms because that is fudging mental. If I liked them, I'd throw them into office.

Who's McCanne? Either Obama or Clinton. I'm not sure yet. I just get this itchy feeling that Obama's going to change while president. Like he's going to be one person until he is elected and then horns will sprout when he takes the oath and we'll realize we just elected Satan for president. |
