If there was a "gang war" between a group of teens who could fly versus a group of teens who could teleport, who do you think would win?

Such a purely fictional scenario is the basis for a novel project I've started.

Flying and teleportation are both fairly passive superpowers which on their own wouldn't tip the balance. I think it would largely depend on the tactical prowess and strategy of the gang leaders.

It probably depends on the extent of their powers... are there any limits on the teleportation? Can a teleporter take someone else with them? Can they teleport anywhere, instantly, and do it again and again without limits? That's very powerful and would essentially allow for flying (teleporting through the air) -- though, in most cases I assume they would just teleport to where they wanted to go. But, anyway, the teleporters may be able to win the war by grabbing the flyers, then teleporting them to a bad place where flying (and surviving) is not possible, then teleporting only themselves back.

The fliers, because they have the sky and earth, and the teleporters only have the latter. I suppose they could sneak attack and use guns, but so could the fliers, really.

I found this excerpt from Frostband's forthcoming novel; I hope you will enjoy it as much as I have:
Chapter IV

"I now view my long road as a search for truth in my own heart, in the world around me, and in the bigger questions of purpose and of existence. How does one define good and evil. " -Drizzt Do'Urden

The sun-machine was coming down and Dawkins' Children were going to have a party. And Bryon Frostwind knew better than anybody how amazing this party would be. As the brave leader of Dawkins’ Children, a highly streetwise gang of teleporters, who skillfully used science to develop their amazing gift to teleport through walls, buses, sidewalks (or anything! It doesn’t matter, there is no limit when you see reality for what it truly is, no blinders on placed by superstitious folks who were more like sheep that are blind to reason’s light). For Bryon knew what was self-evident to his eyes, as clear as the sight of the kegs that his loyal compatriots were teleporting in at this very moment, that they were going to celebrate before their battle with the Holy Rollers.
The moon hung low above them on the horizon. Bryon spotted through the glint of moonlight his first and foremost advisor, Ganthet “Twice-Shy” Kilmarock, but everybody just called him Twice-Shy. “Hey Twice-Shy, what are you doing to prepare for our battle with the Holy Rollers”, Bryon asked having teleported behind Twice-Shy who was hunched over the dog eared pages of a well read book. Which was rare these days because kids didn’t read.
Twice-Shy grunted not even looking up, lost in the marvelously complex political intrigue of George R.R. Martin’s “A Song of Ice and Fire”. This is why Byron trusted Twice-Shy's counsel more than anybody’s: because he read the classics. Twice-Shy didn’t need to say any more, because his leader knew that by careful study of the first novel in the epic masterpiece “A Song of Ice and Fire” they would be ready for the silver-tongued envoy of the Holy Rollers. It’s like reading the “Art of War”, only better because it’s so dense. Twice-Shy was the best amongst rational men which means he is better amongst everybody.
But what hope did the Holy Rollers have? Why would these flying throwbacks to the Dark Ages of King George Bush the II who claimed their power of flight came from Heaven even try use diplomacy? If the Holy Rollers were willing to believe that then surely the were not prepared for the verbal test of wills that would transpire and segue inevitability to the awesome force of might that would descend on them once words truly failed them (since reason had a long time ago).
He didn’t have any more time to contemplate the mysteries of fate as the envoy was about to arrive from the sky, flying …

Teleport, hands down. Flying just by itself would suck (I mean WITHOUT being able to go really really fast like superman). Although teleporting would "technically" kill you, for practical purposes your new self would do the fighting for you.

The only advantage of flying over teleportation that I can think of is the lack of need of teleportation stations. Otherwise you could just teleport yourself out of prison at will which would be a HUGE plus. Flying would get you nowhere because you'd just get shot down by cops pretty quick pretty quick.

*laughing out loud* Actually, I haven't even written chapter 1 yet; still doing research for hte project. Not just on teleportation (with the help of Dr. Michi Kaku's book Physics of the Impossible), but also on certain cultural traits, as I have characters in the story with diverse backgrounds; from Iranian Jews to Cuban teenagers.

The teleporters. All they have to do is teleport on the fliers back and wham-o! They either drag the flier down with their weight or give punches. They don't have to worry about falling because they can just teleport away on the way to the ground.

Probably the teleporters. It's easier to aim at someone who is flying than it is to aim at someone who is dematerializing.
