When you see a number between around 1900 and 2050, do you automatically think of years?

You see a four digit number somewhat close to our current era, without a context attached to it, like 1938 or 2012. Absent of context, does your mind automatically 'see' it as a year?

I don't ever see numbers out of context to anything. I don't think of years.

No, I would see a time before I'd see a year, unless it was 2400 or higher, then I'd probably associate the number with a year... and science fiction.

Sometmes. If it is just the number than yes. If it is in a sentence like "There are 1973 pickles in the jar, than no, I don't think of years.

Sometimes.

I handle a lot of billing/accounting issues at work... so I'm constantly looking at numbers... so I might do it occasionally.... if it's 1976 or something like that.

I hate when I give a client a total or balance that contains 666. People freak out. It's stupid.

I get that at work if the total is $6.66. I also get weird reactions from people when their total comes to $9.11. * rolls eyes *

Sometimes. It's more likely to happen if there's no comma between the first and second digits.

Absolutely, in fact I tend to do it with any four digit number below 3000.

Yes - my mind automatically turned to years in accordance with those figures.
