  What's the serious one thinking?

It's a party, there's music, everyone is having fun and smiling. There's one person amidst the crowd, looking somewhat comfortable, not too stiff, but who will not smile. Not having fun? Thinking too much? Just a serious person? What's the serious one thinking?

If you are not going to ask them what they are thinking, I will find someone who will. I don't want to assume anything without somne clear visual aids.

This is me! I'm usually thinking 'God, I hate it when my friends get drunk.' All of my mannerisms at parties are so affected.

Probably something closest to "Do I look dumb?" or they are in a world all their own.

I'm that girl.

People are always saying to me.... "Smile!!"

My face just isn't made that way. First, having the word "Smile" spoken to me doesn't induce an actual smile. If you are looking for a sarcastic smirk, you'll get one. Second, when my face is at rest it looks very serious. Third, I'm a daydreamer (just like my kid * rolls eyes * ).... and when I go off into what my kid calls "Mommy world"(she has her own zone called "Mary World"), who knows what my face is doing.

Thanks for asking. It's sooo not about you.

I think there should be an emoticon for when things are funnier than just *laughing out loud* .

Yeah... none of that really seemed to fit. What happened was more like a BURST of laughter.

Next time, I'll just use *guffaw*.

This would probably be me. I would be thinking stuff like, I wish I had some drugs/alcohol; or what am I doing here?; or Get me out of here!; or where is the bathroom; Other would maybe be "How can I safely sneak out of here?"

I wouldn't be likely to stare at the person, I'd be looking at the people making comments about them.

Most of these sound like me. I hate parties

Why did I let myself get talked into coming to this party? I hate parties. I don't know how to party. My parents should not have allowed me to become a loner. They should have forced me to mingle and socialize so I would learn how, so I wouldn't feel so awkward now. I hope nobody asks me to dance. I'm not going to get out there and make a fool of myself trying to learn how to dance with all them people watching. That's a cute girl over there, and she looks as uncomfortable as I feel. Maybe I should go talk to her. Nah, I guess not. She's probably with somebody. Anyway, I wouldn't know what to say after the "hello" and exchanging names. Besides, she's having a drink, and I don't even drink. Then I'm gonna have to explain why I don't drink. I've learned from past experiences that people at parties don't want to hear about my religious views on drunkenness. Why did I come to this damned party anyway??Oh Oh, somebody is heading right toward me. They're probably going to say something stupid like,"smile, this is a party", "loosen up and have some fun". They probably mean well but it always makes me feel even more uncomfortable because it tells me that I look totally out of place. What time is it? Oh, it's only 3 minutes later than the last time I looked at my watch. It's too early to leave, the party just started 20 minutes ago. Maybe I could tell the host that I'm not feeling well and I should leave so the other guests don't get whatever I've got.

The "serious one" isn't thinking anything different from the rest of the party guests, the "serious one" simply doesn't walk around with a stupid grin on their face all the time.
