If you used a time-machine to cheat, would it still count?

Lets say you either went back in time, before you or your partner was born, and had sex with someone else. Or, if you went into a distant future (after you'd both be dead) and did the same.... would that count as cheating?

Depends... after "the cheat" do you return to your own time?

This happened to me once and I dumped him as soon as it was discovered that his used condom was unearthed at the excavation of Pompeii.

Yes; it's about the person you are when you do it--traveling in time doesn't change your age and your circumstances. It just moves them somewhere else. Unless you're never planning to go back to your partner, then it's cheating.

If I was the partner you cheated on by doing that, I would get in your time machine and go back and kill your grandfather to ensure you were never born...

I would still say yes. For the purpose of cheating, verses not cheating, the time continuum to use would be that of your actions as opposed to "clock time", ie: if I do A, B, and C in that particular order but I do A in 2008, B in 1992 and C in 2009 because of my time machine I am still doing A first, B second and C third. Though this might get complicated if BOTH you and your SO had access to a time machine and concurrently did your traveling.

The inverse is also true. Suppose you and your ex-SO both have a time machine and some time after breaking up both went back to the time you two were still seeing each other, ignoring that whole "there's more than one copy of you two". You would still be considered not going out.
