Definately because they can. If I could fly I would rather they be dangling around than have to tuck them up. Of course that would be more aerodynamic suppose...

Because Darwinian natural selection doesn't offer an evolutionary advantage to those wasps who tuck them in.

It's funny, I was just noticing this a couple days ago. We tend to get 1 or 2 wasps in the house around this time of year. They are fairly mellow, though. I try to let them back outside, but sometimes they don't get it. Maybe they like it inside. That's fine. The post office lady (Donna) told me that she got stung by one once, inside her house. She was picking something up and it was right where she grabbed. Her pig Dozer died over the winter. She showed me a picture of him once or twice. It was sad, but he had a really good life (was much loved).
