Have you ever had/made a voodoo doll?

image
The history of them goes way back and it's changed a lot, but basically a voodoo doll is a doll that represents someone and you stick it with pins. The color of the pins determines whether the person represented by the doll is harmed or hurt.

No. All I have to do is sit in the dark and think as hard as I can, and imagine them getting hit by a truck.

I don't know if the cute little guy I found was originally supposed to be a "voodoo doll" or not. It looks handmade and part of it's made of a kind of straw. It's oval face is green and it has two little eyes, a long neck, and two straw arms that have green flat appendages as hands. I forgot where I found it but I immediately adopted it as a good luck charm and gave it a special home of its own * smile * It has no legs, is quite fragile, and about 5 inches long. I certainly wouldn't wanta stick it with pins and its body does not seem like it was meant to be used for that sort of thing anyway.

I didn't really know that they could be used for good things until I was looking on the internet to help me explain what they were for the survey. Apparently karma gets you if you do bad to them and less karma if you use it to spark romance. I think I'm going to make one. Weird, ironic things happen to me. I expect it not to work so it probably will.

Just no. I didn't realize you could use different colored pins for different results.
I love the picture for this survey; I don't know why it amuses me so much.

LMAO I know!! He kind of reminds me of a frog. Or it looks like he's kinda freaked out about the idea he's about to get pins stuck into him. Acupuncture Therapy to the extreme lol!

I bought a voo-doo doll in a box as a gift once. It was on one of those little racks by the cash registers in Borders book store. Sometimes, if I can't figure out what to get as a gift, I hit those racks... There are all these little tiny books and little boxes with mini kits and things.

I should have got one for myself.

Yes, but I was a kid and I really hoped it worked but mostly it was to release anger.

No, doesn't soung like a cool thing to be doing. I wasn't aware they were used for healing intent though.

That doll almost looks like a voodoo gingerbread cookie.

When my little friend and I were about 10, we pondered with the idea but I don't recall if we went through with it. I think my conscience kept me from doing it in case it was real.

 * laughing out loud * That reminds me of a book I had when I was little, about a gingerbread man that ran away and caused all sorts of problems in the little village. He was a bad cookie.

No. My younger brother and I did spend a week one summer, staying in a cottage with an open fire, and making effigies of a much hated teacher to burn...
