  Ethical/moral dilemma question

You always buy the software/programs you want for your computer, whether online or from a store. There is software you have used on the "30 day trial" version and find you like it and/or need it, you go to the "pay for full version" page on the website and it costs $300+ which is just too expensive for you.

A friend gives you a site where you can download a pirated copy, would you?

If I was someone who always pays for software or programs, then I imagine I would pay for this one as well, or else do without it. If I were actually me, this would not be the first software I had used a pirated copy of.

Absolutely. The only time I feel guilty downloading is if it's a small band and I really like their music, but I can't find it in shops. I haven't got a card so I can't buy off the internet. I should get my dad to do stuff like that for me. My brother is quite on his way to getting a placement with Pixar (http://www.thinkinimages.co.uk - it's still under construction), and I don't think he's ever bought any of the 3D modelling software he uses.

This isn't really a moral dilemma. You must not know the definition of moral dilemma.

Off course the answer is "its wrong". But would you do it? Would I do it? Thats not answering a moral dilemma. Thats answering whether or not you care about right and wrong, at least for this issue. Two separate issues.

This is very unlikely to happen to me... I doubt I wouldn't have any idea of what the software cost before I tried it.

I was just talking about this type of software with my brother in law. He was looking for something to use to edit videos he makes of skateboarding. What's the name of the one you got?

I would not buy a pirated copy. If several people buy the program, share the cost, everyone wins.

Depends on how poor the software developers are. *wink*

I wouldn't have even gotten the first version originally. I would've gone straight for a pirated version.

Of course. This is not much of an ethical dilemma. Everyone does this (more or less everyone anyways). If you keen spidey-sense conscience is going-off over this one than you should be canonized! *wink*
