I like to think I'm pretty amazing..(not really). My guitar teacher's really good, I have it on film for one of my classes. |

| cloudhugger | posted 14-Apr-2008 7:36am I like Joe Striani alot. I don't have a favorite, there are some damn good ones out there. It depends on whether I am driving, chilling or at a group thing. |

| kcthedog | posted 14-Apr-2008 11:32pm This is one of those questions that do not have a straight answer; while my selection is not my favorite he is defiantly very good. The main reason to mention his name is to point out that a simple list of names cannot include the full spectrum of talented musicians through out the world and all time to try to list them. This survey allows for all applicants to be mentioned. I am sorry the originator of the first survey did not make adjustments to get the survey through qual.
Ynqwie J Malmsteen |
| Kristal_Rose | posted 15-Apr-2008 3:38am Django Reinhardt, Ry Cooder, Leo Kottke, Jose Gonzales, Muddy Waters, Clapton, Malm-steen, John Mayer, the Ventures, probably many others I never gave thought to by name.
I prefer avante-garde violin soloists though. |
| Melf | (reply to Kristal_Rose) posted 15-Apr-2008 4:09am Have you ever heard of Final Fantasy (not the game, the music act)? |
| Jody | posted 15-Apr-2008 8:55am I really like Eric Johnson and Joe Satriani. |
| moviesnob | posted 15-Apr-2008 5:07pm F if I know. Maybe David Grohl, but he's not very well known for his guitar skillz. |
| Kristal_Rose | (reply to Melf) posted 15-Apr-2008 5:40pm Nope. just the game. |
| Melf | (reply to Kristal_Rose) posted 16-Apr-2008 4:43am Aw, he's a violinist who records everything he's playing, then lays it on top of another piece he'll go into, and fiddles about with it, all live. Pretty cool stuff. |
| icurok | posted 16-Apr-2008 5:38am It's a toss up between Jack White and Slash. Joe Satriani and Yngwie Malmsteen are both technically flawless guitarists, but neither can play music that I find moving in any way. It's just.. clever. |
| icurok | (reply to Melf) posted 16-Apr-2008 5:41am Ok.. so I can reasonably expect someone of your age to have heard of A Clockwork Orange. But Transmetropolitan? I remember buying the first dozen issues of that over 10 years ago! How did you come across Spider Jerusalem? |
| Kristal_Rose | (reply to Melf) posted 16-Apr-2008 6:26am That does sound cool, a bit like Robert Fripp. |
| Kristal_Rose | (reply to icurok) posted 16-Apr-2008 6:33am I was reluctant to list Malmsteen for the same reason. I can play as fast as him (20-30 sequential melodic notes/sec)(using both hands at once)(not as crisp as him), which is why I was informed of his existence. |
| Melf | (reply to icurok) posted 16-Apr-2008 9:22am I was wikiing Market Forces by Richard Morgan, which got me onto a list of postcyberpunk fiction, and then to Transmetropolitan. And then I managed to download an entire collection of the comics. I'm going to hunt ebay later and actually buy some, though. |
| RGirl | posted 16-Apr-2008 7:27pm Any kind of guitar? Bassist Michelle Leon from Babes In Toyland. She really got into it. Regular guitar I would say Corin Tucker from Sleater Kinney. I am sure there are better ones but that is my fave band and my fave member of my fave band. |
| Galomorro | posted 17-Apr-2008 3:12pm I don't really have one, but I do like Jerry Garcia and Eric Clapton. |
| Melf | (reply to icurok) posted 17-Apr-2008 4:34pm Finished the series. I could cry. |
| icurok | (reply to Melf) posted 18-Apr-2008 4:05am Where did you download them from? Transmetropolitan sort of coincided with the time I stopped collecting comics because I'd bought my first house and couldn't really afford it anymore. I think I'd really enjoy seeing how the series developed. |
