| kirst | posted 2-Apr-2008 11:24am Very infrequently...haven't been to a public library in Hong Kong for several years. There isn't one real close to us and none of the libraries I know of have any parking. The English section of the Central Library isn't great although the kids section in English is pretty good. It's just too much of a hassle to get there. In previous places I've lived, the library has been one of my favorite places. |
| Biggles | posted 2-Apr-2008 11:43am Occasionally, but it doesn't have a great selection. I use the university and hospital libraries a lot though. |
| bill | posted 2-Apr-2008 11:50am never, I dislike borrowing things |
| icurok | posted 2-Apr-2008 12:24pm Yes, every few weeks. I barely have the time to read the books I own, but my girlfriend is a voracious reader and takes out 10 books at at time. Our local library also has a good children's section so I get four books for my daughter every month just to give her a bit of variety at bedtime. |
| Melf | posted 2-Apr-2008 12:42pm Never, I buy my books new. The one in the village is full of that Catherine Cookson rubbish, and the big one in town I find really scary. |
| Zang | posted 2-Apr-2008 12:43pm I used to live pretty close to the main branch and used it very frequently. Now it is quite rare. |
| LindaH | posted 2-Apr-2008 12:49pm Yep. I check out a lot of CDs |
| thecomic22 | posted 2-Apr-2008 3:31pm I have in the past, just to use one of the computers. But you haft to pay $3 dollars for a library card to use it & that's only for like 5 minutes. Which I think is kind of crapty. So in typical Comic fashion, I hid in the back & used it without paying & my friends on the look out. Lol. I had a library card once, but in typical Comic fashion, it got wet & I couldn't use it & I just checked out books on my best friends card the few times I did bother checking anything out. |
| they | posted 2-Apr-2008 3:34pm Yes, more frequently than sometimes. |
| kcthedog | posted 2-Apr-2008 3:41pm Very rarely, I usually purchase my books either because they are reference material or I intend to keep them. I do not do too much idle reading. |
| Galomorro | posted 2-Apr-2008 6:16pm Yes, frequently, and various branches in addition to the branch nearest me and the Main library. |
| Crayons | posted 2-Apr-2008 7:33pm Well it's a long story. It's right by the school though so I could go there anytime. But I just never can find anything interesting. |
| JessicaWoman99 | posted 2-Apr-2008 9:17pm Hardly ever use the Library got my very own books hundreds right here at home plus my own computer
who needs a Library |
| romkey | posted 2-Apr-2008 10:19pm No, I don't.
I suspect that I have more books than our local library does. It can be a problem. |
| LJD | posted 3-Apr-2008 12:05am Yes |
| Iseult | posted 3-Apr-2008 9:33am No, but I used to in the past. |
| cerealkiller | posted 4-Apr-2008 1:37pm Never. No use for libraries anymore. You can find anything you're looking for on the internet. Libraries mostly have books that are way out of date except for literature. |
| Gomezy3k | posted 6-Apr-2008 9:46am Very rarely. I prefer to buy my books new or used since I like to keep them. The Library kind of frowns on keeping their books.. |
| judgescratch | posted 8-Apr-2008 8:43am Yes, and I'm also a volunteer. |
| RGirl | posted 8-Apr-2008 6:43pm Sometimes, especially for audio books. |
| Enigma | posted 9-Apr-2008 1:08am A bit. I like to buy my books. |
| smurf | posted 12-Apr-2008 9:01pm |
| cloudhugger | posted 15-Apr-2008 7:16pm No, apparently that is where the towns people go to mingle and chat...really looud. When the librarians yell across the room to each other it is time to move on. |
| Enheduanna | posted 19-Apr-2008 2:11pm Very, very occasionally. I do use private (educational institutions') libraries quite a bit, though. |
| harry | posted 26-Apr-2008 3:48pm I'm answering this survey on a PC at a public library. Believe it or not, I don't own a computer (yet). There is plenty of stuff to go through at a library now besides books. |
| aquawolfy | posted 30-Apr-2008 4:52pm Books you can read for free??? Heck yes! |
