Record it on camera and post it on youtube. Look into seeing if I can link ads to it and make a few bucks. |

I would yell:
"Hey lady, if you don't want to get dragged anymore - let go!"
I know it's a pain, but what is she worried about losing? Hand cream? Make-up? A cellphone or credit cards? All can be replaced very easily.
To me... it's simple.
If you want to get dragged, hold on to that cheap bag filled with replaceable crap.
If you don't want to get dragged, let go and call the bank to report the stupid card missing.
All that being said... I'd probably try to help in some way.

I'd hit him over the head with something heavy. I've been in a similar situation where I tried to help an old lady that lived on my road after I saw a guy barge into her house when she answered the door. I ran up and started banging on the windows and door to let him know that I'd seen him and he opened the door, I tried to stop him by punching him on the stomach, but as I was only about 14, and he was really big, he just smacked me over the head with the lady's handbag and ran off |

If I were younger, I'd try to stop it with physical strength. Scream for attention from others, hopefully within earshot they could call police, if not I'd call. No one ever knows what they'll do in the situation, but I know I'd do something. There are variables of what someone can do, but definitely call police. |

Help the guy get the purse away from the woman? |
Crayons | | posted 19-Mar-2008 4:23pm |
Considering I am pretty much still a little girl I think just watching would not ruin my reputation. I would probably try to get some courage to say something though. Maybe I would just stand there twitching and glaring and saying violent things. Maybe if I act like a schizo the guy would get scared and go away. Just talking to my imaginary friend. "Where'd you hide the bodies? More victims, more victims' |

I'd call the cops if I was the person watching. If I was the broad being dragged on the other hand, I'd mule kick the sonofadog right in the nuts with everything I had. He'd prolly' let go at that point..... |

I would kick his ass! Beat him to a pulp! Break his face! Roundhouse kick him sideways in the knee joint! Knife hand him in the armpit! Hurt him!

There! There! This is a perfect example of being too passive about public behavior, a lady is getting mugged and you just pretend everything is just hunky dory. People need to be responsible how they act in public so when behavior is not normal others do not just turn their head and ignore what’s going on. |

I was kidding. I'd probably call the cops. Not sure what I'd do, though.
I do think some behavior that is 'not normal' is harmless, though. Sometimes it's good to ignore some things that are 'not normal.' |
southernyankee |
You'd do that for FREE? Without asking for a cut? Thats very unselfish of you. |

I mean if i saw this happening right before me , I would try to help another woman someway and maybe create
chaos and scream" my mouth off and draw attention to this, I would get sombody's attention mass hysteria
Then I just do not know what I would do until this actually really did happen and i just happened to be driving by
or something , it would be frightening and scary |

I would probably try to stop him, and if I felt like I couldn't I would say something to someone I thought might be able to help, or I would call the police. |

kcthedog | | (reply to LindaH) posted 20-Mar-2008 11:43pm |
What IS normal? Am I normal? Are you normal? Normal means when others are not affected by activities that they are not comfortable with. People like me expect others to act in a civil and respectable (there is the word “respectable” that I know you hate) manner. I want to walk the street with out apprehension and fear that what someone may be doing is not confusing or possibly misconstrued as hostile activity. That requires self-control and appreciation that everybody is not as liberal as you. I am old fashioned and want to be able to walk the streets where everybody smiles and waves to each other and the sound of music is in the background. Am I unreasonable? |

I would scream to draw attention, I wouldn't call the police (that's what the screaming is for), then I would hurt the purse grabber with my insanely sceary streanth and my awsome pain inflickting powers. |

I want to walk the street without apprehension and fear that what I am doing is not misconstrued as hostile. I want everyone to smile and wave at each other too. I want to be able to go about my business (though it might confuse others, but that's their issue) and have no one bat an eye, or get scared, just because it might be 'out of the ordinary'
Don't get me wrong, I don't always go around doing out of the ordinary things. I tend to blend in. It's just that I shouldn't have to think "Will this scare or worry anyone?" when I want to do something a little different. |

I just read through a HUGE list of campus police calls. Most are legitimate, but so many of them, I wonder WTF the caller is thinking. Worrywarts should be blacklisted... I am appalled at people who choose to waste campus officer's time on STUPID crap.
And people don't intervene when they see serious stuff like in the topic of this survey. *baffled* |

As a woman, I probably could not overpower the man, but I could splash bleach in his eyes as a surprise. There is a psychological phenomenon that says no one will act when there are myriads of bystanders...I'd rather make a fool of myself than let someone get pillaged...I wouldn't mind getting mildly hurt for an innocent stranger, but emphasis on the mild...If a man really was dragging a woman by the purse--as this hypo suggests--I would do best to take a pocket-knife to her purse strtings. That way, the woman is free and the allegedly illegal actor (the robber) would get some of what he wanted and hopefully he'd get caught. Also, if you act quickly, other people are likely to respond, so all it really takes is one brave person to kick him in the groin and pin him down and then it's all over because people from all over the area would come to your aid...I hope no one is ever in this situation, but if you are, the least you can do is yell "fire!" because then you will always get everyone's attention and the thief might stop and just run |
