Bought a new king bed when I moved... I needed a bed, as my prior apartment had been furnished, and I figured, why not spend a wee bit more and have a large one...

Cheerfully decadent...

Size DOES count

Full. I am seriously considering upgrading though partly because of the size and partly cause I've resorted to one of those egg carton mattress pads and various other accessories to make the poor, lumpy thing last another year or two.

I've always slept on a double bed. Guess I have always hoped to get lucky!

I've slept on a king-size bed for the past 10 years and anything smaller feels too small. It's really nice to have space for me, a sweetie, piles of clothes, a couple of books, my stuffed animals, my notebook computer, etc. etc. Very snuggly that way!

jonathan: I smile just thinking about that. I think you've almost upgraded a piece of furniture into a room. If only you had some power source and some canned goods, I think you could probably live there.

I just switched from a twin to a double bed. I love it. I am sooo much more comfy now that I can spread out with out my arms hanging over the side.

yorricks: Already have electric outlets near the bed, the only thing I'm then missing is an ethernet connection. I got really tempted today to drill a hole in the wall to put one in, but I think I'll put together a wireless setup at some point. re: food, I don't like to have too much food around the bed because of the messes and it's worth the self-justification of "Hey, I just got up to walk to the fridge to get a pint of ice cream, that's got to make up for the calories I'm about to eat, right?"

No idea in these terms :) I normally just use single/double (I was the only kid I knew who had a double bed in primary school :))

I think single = twin and double = full.

apart from being big, the great thing about a king size bed is that it is SQUARE (or nearly so) so it doesn't matter which way you lie on it.

Do you mean _especially_ when they're perched on a regular sized platform? I can see one rocking right off the platform and onto the floor.

We love our king size bed, although it sure takes up a big part of the bedroom.

Queen size soft-sider waveless waterbed. Aaahhh. I historically haven't been comfortable in waterbeds, but this one is somehow different. It's rather like being in the womb, only not so gooey.

I like to open my arms wide from time to time, when
sleeping, as my fantasy experiences sleep as a sort
of trip to religious or spiritual grounds.
So I (we) need space enough if I prefer not
to touch the wall or frighten nighten partners.
