I don't know, but I'm leaning much more to 'no' than 'yes'. There are always hierarchies in society; whether it be because of wealth, race, sex(uality).

No. You have to discriminate. I can't stand how that word is used by a lot of people, with no qualifying terms in front of it, as though all forms of discrimination are bad. Discrimination based on irrelevant characteristics like race is bad.
We must discriminate against people who are unfit, unqualified, and have bad reputations. If you didn't discriminate, there would be no reason to do background checks.

Depends what you mean by "discrimination". We discriminate every time we select an item from a menu.

So long as the society is made up of humans, I doubt it.

some ideals are still worth striving for even if they are not feasible

I think so if kids are trained properly at a young age by parents and in school, etc. A lot of times kids get prejudices from other kids and from adults around them and kids are highly impressionable.

Who would be the one(s) to determine who is ept and who is lame?

The employer offering the job, the landlord offering the apartment, the leader offering a position in the club...

That would be discrimination.

I know. My answer to the survey is that some types of discrimination are okay.

I think maybe someday, but right now society is to big on appearance. To many people still think what others think of them is important.

Unless you substantially alter human psychology, no.

Nope.

I think too many people want to be discriminated against so they can whine like little doges.

Lately, I've been very annoyed by this. It seems like a lot of minorities like to keep pointing out their differences to keep discrimination alive. I think they'd be very bored if there was no discrimation to complain about. People enjoy being victims.

It's probably not a very popular view... but whatever. I'm sick of it... and I definitely don't think anyone should be treated BETTER because of their minority status. That pisses me off too. I could go on and on but I will not let this start my day off poorly.... so.... /end rant

I could rant about it too. When people engage in poor behavior and are discriminated against for that, there are some minorities who are so 'blinded' by their status and being discriminated against for all the wrong reasons, that they don't see it when it's not their minority status, but their behavior that's the issue.

No. We should strive to come as close to that ideal as possible, but it will never happen. Just as there will always be crime and corruption so long as there are human beings. We just learn to accept and deal some level of tolerance to these things.

i think you can have a society free or close to free of discriminatory practices in the work place, education etc.... but you will not change people's personal feelings so NO it won't be completely free of discrimination

Absolutely not. The brain just doesn't work that way. You mix up biology with environment with experiences and it is just to complex a combination to get everyone to think the same exact way.

No, no way possible. People hate each other. It is a natural occurance.

I tend to think of feasible as different from possible. My dictionary says feasible means "possible to do easily or conveniently." So, no. But possible more generally speaking? Maybe. I don't know.

Yes, and no. I think you can have a more harmonious society of people of their own kind, however, even in that society, there will be disagreements. In a multicultural, diverse society.....impossible.
