| kcthedog | posted 26-Feb-2008 11:04am Love birds, miniature Parrot. I have had six or seven and tamed every one of them to the point I could walk around the market, and go the bar with one on my shoulder, great way to meet women and children. When I would walk in the bar all the girls would come to ‘me’ to see my ‘bird’, their boyfriends would always get livid and call me ‘gay’ I didn’t care I had all girls talking to me. I would even have my bird on my shoulder as I play pool and this would really piss them off, I would pause and ask my bird for shot suggestions like he was my caddy, it was hilarious. They would get so upset they couldn’t play, and I would proceed to kick their ass, and with a limp wrist wave the next one to the table. Unfortunately they are fragile little creatures and my last one died last January, his name was Phoenix, there is a story behind that but I will not bore you with the details, sufficient to say the little bird helped rise from my ashes and I miss him. |

| LJD | posted 26-Feb-2008 12:33pm I love most birds. We have several swallows come in our back yard, my husband keeps trying to shoo shoo them away. I must say they can be messy. I have a nest right out side my bedroom in a cove. One day, I was at the patio door, and noticed, what I thought was a baby bird fly to a tree next door. Within minutes, I noticed two other birds go to the tree, and guide that baby bird back to the nest near my bedroom window. The baby bird in the middle, and I assume mama and daddy birds on either side. It was a beautiful sight, very moving. I noticed the birds coming back several years. I called the library, and asked for some information. The library said once swallows travel, nest in one location, they eternally will come back to that spot, generation after generation. And they were right. |

| Biggles | posted 27-Feb-2008 4:28pm I like birds that I don't see very often, like the heron that flies down the valley about once a day. I also like some of the fairly common birds that come to the bird table - sparrows, blue bewbs and robins. I'm not too fond of magpies, but I have a soft spot for starlings (because there has been a nest above my bedroom at my parents' house for as long as I can remember) and urban pigeons (because I used to try and catch one every week when I was little). |
