Isn't that the name of a Rod Stewart song?
Yes, I'm making a joke. |

Guy in Philosophy. He's really not at all my usual type. I like my girls slim and my guys skinny, and he's tall and broad shouldered. |

It's like obsession. No, I don't really have one. |

It's an 80s song by Rod Stewart (which I can't get out of my head now ) |

I LOVE infatuation!! It's fun! It makes you do stupid things and then you wake up...
Infatuation is the garden where you plant the seed of love - it may bloom or it may not. If it does, like a garden; it requires hard work to keep it alive and growing. No one "falls" in love - that's only infatuation! |

It's a surge in brain chemistry brought on by certain autonomic responses to your surroundings; I'm not currently under its effects. |

Focusing way too much of your attention on something, especially if that thing really doesn't deserve that much attention. |
Enheduanna | | posted 11-Feb-2008 11:41am |
Oh, and I don't have one right now, although I have in the past. |

What Irene said; also what Romkey said.
I was infatuated by someone I read an awful lot about and chatted with in IMs. It's worn off a bit, but I still think he is adorable. |

Infatuation is a lustful emotion. I don't understand the second part of this question. Do I have one what? Infatuation? That doesn't make any sense. |
| RGirl | | posted 11-Feb-2008 7:16pm |
I've been infatuated many times. Sometimes with a person, sometimes with a character on tv or in a movie or even in a book. This is usually brief and/or decreases in intensity over time. When I want to know every bit of info about some one I think that is when it is infatuation. This isn't the same as what I call 'crushes'. I get those left and right. It is usually just some one I enjoy observing...aka staring. Always women. My latest was the woman at the DMV. |

Oh! And Snape. Of course. |

Infatuation, noun-
1. - a foolish and usually extravagant passion or love or admiration – a strong feeling or emotion.
2. -temporary love of an adolescent - strong positive emotion of regard and affection
3. - an object of extravagant short-lived passion - the focus of cognitions or feelings; "objects of thought"; "the object of my affection"
Yes, yes and yes! I find my self infatuated more times than I like to admit. I feel like a smitten schoolboy, I love to be in love. I love to love, I love to love women! There are so many beautiful girls out there, smart, and witty. I cannot help myself, in fact I am infatuated with someone here, only an icon, but she fills my day with thoughts. But alas my affections are not returned.

Infatuation does not carry all the heavy obligations and commitments that love does; infatuation is light and breezy, free. Although it can precede love like the seed buried beneath the snow that in the spring becomes the rose.

Awww... That's just lovely! *sigh*
I miss infatuation. My friend stayed with me last night - I called him over but it was out of necessity more than anything else. I wish, at least, that I was infatuated with him but that would complicate things, so... *double sigh* |

It's not a disease, just an affliction.
I'm chronically afflicted. |
kcthedog | | (reply to Irene007) posted 15-Feb-2008 3:07pm |
Ok I think I understand about “necessities” but like romance, infatuation needs creativity and spontaneity. Call it play acting (kinda) use your imagination. It does need a little help from the object of your affection to get the creative juices flowing (little pun there).

Irene007 | | (reply to kcthedog) posted 15-Feb-2008 3:22pm |
Well in cases like last night; I just crawl into my head, use my age old fantasies and the juices get to flowing! |
kcthedog | | (reply to Irene007) posted 15-Feb-2008 3:44pm |
I read somewhere that 95% of the sexual experience takes place in your head (the one that holds the brain) meaning that the thought of arousal creates more physical stimulus, than physical stimulus creates arousal (did that make sense?) Fantasy and imagination are essential to good sex, otherwise it is just procreation.
