1= Scary? Sesame Street is more scary!
10= This was without doubt the scariest movie I've ever seen. Actually I wet my pants more than once!

There were moments staring out into the darkness of the woods at night wondering what they were going to see...wondering what those noises might be coming from....
wondering what might be revealed in the flashlight's glow in the next sweep to the right or left...that I found myself holding my breath...biting my lip and gripping the arm rests.
I also got goosebumps when they were in the tent and heard the cackling noises and the sounds of children/babies laughing crying. UG!
It was suspenseful more than scary as in things jumping out and going boo...
It was frightening to imagine what it would be like for them...in the woods...lost...as darkness fell...in the cold...in a tent...
As the Mike descended the stairs into the basement...and rounded the corner...I closed my eyes...and then thought to myself...DAMN...THEY GOT ME!
I would like to see it again...

I think the movie is scarier for people with more vivid imaginations... because it did leave a lot up to your imagination.

Well, it wasn't "Poltergeist", but then again I was 9 when I saw that...

Poltergeist was really scary - that bit with counting the seconds in between the lightning flash and the thunder really worked for me, also animating puppets alway works for me.

The movie was scary, but what scared me _much_ more was what it did to my twisted imagination afterward. I spent days flashing on that last shot, and trying to piece together what happened.
If you can shrug the movie off, it's probably not that scary (I know a fair number of people who thought it was boring rather than scary), but if it gets its hooks into you -- and it helps to have childhood fears that match the climax of the film -- it can be pretty damn traumatic.

As a side note, I didn't really find Sixth Sense that scary. There were a couple good "boo!" moments, but the resolution of the film defused the horror for me. We know, when all is said and done, that the kid can probably cope now, even if his life isn't going to be terribly happy.
With Blair Witch, there _is_ no resolution. Whatever's out there is still out there, it's still evil and murderous, and we're not even sure what it is. And it got them. To me, that's far more horrible. Tastes vary.

I live not too far away from Burkittsville. It is really sad to see what idiot tourists are doing to that town. It's so bad that the local children will not be having Halloween on Halloween this year. They will be trick or treating on a date undisclosed to anyone except residents.

Very...I never thought of that. That is terrible. :(

If I lived in Burkittsville, and was a small child, aware of the hype, I would never sleep during the night again.

What made it easy for me to drive home after the film without the heebeegeebee's(sp?) is that we don't live anywhere near there. I'll never go into a wooded area at night...so there is no chance of anything like that ever happening to me.

*shudder*

Doe anyone else here have an overwhelming fear of dead children coming back to life...all evil and crap or just evil kids posessed? Like those twin girls in The Shining. Our poor little Regan in The Exorcist? That toddler in Pet cemetary? The floaty vampire boy in Salem's Lot scritchidy scratchin' at the window? UG!

It was a very good movie but it really wasn't too scary. I give it a 6.

I find indoor scary movies scarier then outdoor scary movies. I'm not at all scared of the woods but i'm scared of my own house...

It wasn't that it was scary, it was just weird. Good movie though.

I gave it a 7. I think it would have been scarier if I'd seen it earlier when I still partly believed the hype that it was all true and the students who made it were never found. Sometimes when I hear too many good things about a movie I end up disappointed because I expect so much.

I didn't wet my pants, but I was very frightened. My husband, who tends to like horror movies, asked if I wanted to leave near the end of the movie. I thought he was trying to take care of me, assuming he thought I was terrified, and I said no so he could stay until the end. Truth was, HE was terrified and wanted to leave, and hasn't had much interest in horror movies since. I did spend a sizable amount of time with my eyes closed during the movie, as it was quite scary!

I saw it for the first time last night with my friends as a part of our Halloween celebrations. I thought it was pretty freaky, but not as bad as I expected. The part with the bunchs of sticks and those funky doll things freaked me out. I just kept thinking about how I would feel I I was stuck in the middle of the woods like that. My friend had to explain the ending to me, but I get it now. That was cool.

The Coen Brothers ARE from Minnesota and Fargo was filmed in Brainerd Minnesota as per news article below:

Local police getting calls about "Fargo"

By KATHI NAGORSKI
Staff Writer
BRAINERD, MN

The crime thriller "Fargo," set for major release this Friday, may be based on a true story but not one that occurred in
Brainerd.

"Fargo," the latest release by Minnesota natives Joel and Ethan Coen, is set in Fargo, Brainerd and Minneapolis.

Brainerd Police Chief Frank Ball said he has received several phone calls about the portrayal of the Brainerd Police Department in
the movie.

In the movie, a pregnant Brainerd Police Chief Marge Gunderson, portrayed by Frances McDormand, investigates a homicide.

There is no word yet on when "Fargo" may be seen in Brainerd.

Ball said he received one call from Wisconsin. He said he explained to the caller that there is running water in Brainerd but the
phone lines consist of two cups and a string.

When asked if he plans to see this movie, Ball said, "You betcha."

It isn't depicting of anyone in Fargo. It is depicting of Norwegians.
I'm not a North Dakotan, so it doesn't offend me, but I feel that it was over-dramatized.

The first time I saw it I was not sure how I felt about it fright-wise, but knew I was vaguely impressed. An hour later I was completely bugged out, and I mean completely uncontrollably freaked. I recently purchased the DVD and watched it with my SO, who had never seen it before. This time I was bugged out only a few minutes after the ending. It's weird, I'm not scared when I'm watching it, more fascinated. But the aftermath is insane! I still won't go within 100 feet of the woods at night.
