| jonathan | posted 14-Oct-1999 11:20am I like guarana a lot, it's an Amazonian berry that has stimulant properties like caffeine w/out some of the side effects, besides the fact that it has a nice taste all on its own. |
| they | posted 14-Oct-1999 1:02pm Coke or Mountain Dew |
| drdt | posted 14-Oct-1999 5:12pm Moxie! All the caffeine, none of the sugar. On a more mundane level, Mountain Dew is cool. Also some of the better root beers are caffeinated. Barq's springs to mind. |
| mandy | posted 14-Oct-1999 5:33pm DIET PEPSI!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |
| Lizabeth | posted 14-Oct-1999 5:59pm If I had to choose one ... Pepsi. I drink mostly water these days, though. |
| SueBee | posted 15-Oct-1999 2:04am Diet Pepsi all the way! I didn't know Mountain Dew had caffeine. |
| drdt | posted 15-Oct-1999 10:54am SueBee: there isn't much else in it. |
| bill | posted 15-Oct-1999 11:50am I picked Diet Pepsi too. Diet Mountain Dew and Diet Coke are good too. |
| Jody | posted 15-Oct-1999 2:36pm Doesn't Mello Yello have caffeine in it also? |
| lion | posted 15-Oct-1999 3:40pm I usually don't drink sodas on a regular basis. Every once in a while I do like having a root beer. |

| msgman | posted 16-Oct-1999 7:23am By "soft drink" I meant what Americans call "soda". The curse of cultural non-equivalence strikes again Maybe I'll do another survey on hot drinks (tea, coffee etc.) But then, how do you classify iced tea..... |
| they | posted 16-Oct-1999 8:27pm msgman.. I am american and I do not call it "soda"... I am from a part of the country that calls it "pop". |
| Avocado | posted 16-Oct-1999 9:57pm If I'm gonna do serious caffeine, Jolt is preferred. But hard to find. Mostly I avoid caffeine as a regular thing, so that when I need it to hit, it hits... |

| mandy | posted 17-Oct-1999 4:58pm I drink Dr. Pepper don't ya know It's the original taste that I love so and the taste is making Peppers everywhere I go I'm a Pepper He's a Pepper She's a Pepper We're a Pepper(huh?) Wouldn't you like to be a Pepper too? Be a Pepper Drink Dr.Pepper Be a Pepper Drink Dr. Pepper |
| SueBee | posted 17-Oct-1999 6:09pm they - I grew up calling it "pop", too, but there are now so many people in my life who call it "soda" that I've gotten into the habit. Must be a regional thing. I think all the people I know who say "soda" have moved here from other states. mandy - I always thought that "(huh?)" line was "We're all Peppers". |
| mandy | posted 17-Oct-1999 7:00pm Really? hmmmmmmmmmmmmm That makes for a real mouthful when you try and sing it tho... |

| ILJ | posted 5-Nov-1999 10:30am Iced tea. I avoid carbonated beverages due to the rather loud results they produce from my nether parts. Just wanted to share that with you. |
| ILJ | posted 5-Nov-1999 10:37am msgman - I think in the States any served-cold clear beverage (well maybe not clear; I'm trying to distinguish between watery and milk-like) more flavorful than water that contains no alcohol is generally considered a soft drink, usually with an assumption of carbonation but not necessarily. I guess some people consider hot coffee and tea to be soft drinks as well, but I don't think it's the most commonly accepted definition. |
| anonymous | posted 5-Nov-1999 3:27pm ILJ: where are you from? |
| ILJ | posted 5-Nov-1999 3:47pm anon: I am from somewhere in the Northeastern United States. |
| Mariah | posted 5-Nov-1999 4:23pm ILJ: Do you guys have sweet iced tea there? |
| they | posted 6-Nov-1999 6:55am Mariah... my SO was quite upset to learn that iced tea is not sold pre-sweetened in Ohio when we went to visit my family... I had never even heard of it until I got to NC (but then, I'm not a big fan of tea). |
| Mariah | posted 6-Nov-1999 6:13pm they: I don't like tea, either. It makes me feel like a very bad southerner. |
| ILJ | posted 7-Nov-1999 4:51pm Mariah: I only enjoy pre-sweetened synthetic out-of-the-can Dupont-engineered iced tea. I know that "real" iced tea (a.k.a. cold brown water that somebody dunked some grass in) is probably better for my personal balance of natural essence and blah blah blah, but if it looks like brown water, and it tastes like brown water...well, I say give me the powdered Nestea mix any day! :) |
| Jeanne | posted 9-Nov-1999 7:11pm I am a tea drinker. I do not drink coffee nor have I ever. I rarely have a cola drink. I love Hansen's herbal teas, in different flavors. I love green tea, herbal teas. I love lemonade. |
| Mariah | posted 10-Nov-1999 10:13pm Jeanne: Yum! Lemonade! But I don't like the pink kind. |
