I would not want to purchase anything. I have no idea what a hybrid car is and do not drive anyway.

A hybrid car is one that uses more than one method of propulsion, most commonly a combination of a conventional internal combustion engine (like a regular car) and a rechargeable electric motor. The idea is that it increases the fuel economy and decreases the emissions of the car by switching from one to other when it's most convenient (i.e. switching to electric when you're stuck in traffic).

Oh. Thanks. Had no idea. So why wouldn't a guy want a hybrid as much as a woman would, I wonder.

He would. I've looked for the male/female sales ratio and it seems that it's more or less equal.

3rd option has nothing to do with the question. And, I think that gender has little to do with who purchases hybrid cars.

I would say female, but that's only because I would buy one and I am female.

I know it wasn't an option but should have been. It is silly to make a gender question about hybrid cars. To begin with it probably would be logical for men to "know" what a hybrid car is more than women, if only by virtue that a good percentage of woman are homemakers and not necessarily tuned into mechanical subjects. On the other hand I believe women tend to be more practical then men, so given equal numbers of informed women and men, I believe that more women would chose hybrid cars verses men. Hybrids are not much on performance, and men like their horses.

Males because they are hoping their 'green' car will attract the ladies.
