| Galomorro | posted 15-Jan-2008 11:33am I would not want to purchase anything. I have no idea what a hybrid car is and do not drive anyway. |

| icurok | (reply to Galomorro) posted 15-Jan-2008 11:48am A hybrid car is one that uses more than one method of propulsion, most commonly a combination of a conventional internal combustion engine (like a regular car) and a rechargeable electric motor. The idea is that it increases the fuel economy and decreases the emissions of the car by switching from one to other when it's most convenient (i.e. switching to electric when you're stuck in traffic). |

| Galomorro | (reply to icurok) posted 15-Jan-2008 12:54pm Oh. Thanks. Had no idea. So why wouldn't a guy want a hybrid as much as a woman would, I wonder. |

| icurok | (reply to Galomorro) posted 15-Jan-2008 1:08pm He would. I've looked for the male/female sales ratio and it seems that it's more or less equal. |
| Galomorro | (reply to icurok) posted 15-Jan-2008 1:15pm Thanks, again. I would think it would be equal. |
| Iseult | posted 15-Jan-2008 1:35pm Whoever wants one and can afford it.
I'd love a Prius |
| Iseult | (reply to bill) posted 15-Jan-2008 1:36pm It's on, Bill. We're going to have to take this outside. |
| cerealkiller | posted 15-Jan-2008 1:52pm 3rd option has nothing to do with the question. And, I think that gender has little to do with who purchases hybrid cars. |
| thecomic22 | posted 15-Jan-2008 1:56pm No clue. |
| bill | (reply to Iseult) posted 15-Jan-2008 2:06pm My Ford Extinction is gonna eat your Prius for lunch! |

| ausfox | posted 15-Jan-2008 3:52pm I would say female, but that's only because I would buy one and I am female. |
| Irene007 | posted 15-Jan-2008 6:23pm Other; I think it's 50/50 |
| southernyankee | posted 15-Jan-2008 9:44pm I would guess female, by a small margin. |
| Iseult | (reply to bill) posted 15-Jan-2008 10:37pm Wait till I get my Hummer Hybrid. |
| jettles | posted 16-Jan-2008 9:17am i have no idea. |
| JessicaWoman99 | posted 16-Jan-2008 1:59pm Males are probably more likely to purchase these cars |
| kcthedog | posted 16-Jan-2008 9:18pm I know it wasn't an option but should have been. It is silly to make a gender question about hybrid cars. To begin with it probably would be logical for men to "know" what a hybrid car is more than women, if only by virtue that a good percentage of woman are homemakers and not necessarily tuned into mechanical subjects. On the other hand I believe women tend to be more practical then men, so given equal numbers of informed women and men, I believe that more women would chose hybrid cars verses men. Hybrids are not much on performance, and men like their horses. |
| kcthedog | (reply to bill) posted 16-Jan-2008 9:19pm > pussies!
Was that a gender based comment? |
| bill | (reply to kcthedog) posted 17-Jan-2008 6:32am actually, no |

| Pomeranian | posted 21-Jan-2008 4:51am clearly the concept of a confounding factor has escaped you. |
| RGirl | posted 25-Jan-2008 7:06pm Males because they are hoping their 'green' car will attract the ladies. |
