It borders on irony. It's having a little tap dance on the side lines. |

No it makes perfect sense because there is a God and Jesus and all the reasons to believe |
Enheduanna | | posted 12-Jan-2008 7:27pm |
No, it's not ironic. It's just a failure to communicate. In her world, there is a God, and therefore it's wrong not to believe in him. In your world, there is no God, so it's only logical not to believe in him. You just have different worldviews. |

It makes sense from her perspective... just not from yours. |

Sin? What is sin? God does not judge someone because of disbelief; he realizes that someone that has not come to know him cannot be held responsible for a mistaken idea. Just so I do not invoke the wrath of atheists if God does exist he would judge based on intent not so much on action. God would realize, being God that when it is all said and done evil and goodness will nullify each other. All that really matters is that we live a life of fellowship respecting everyone and everything sharing love and kindness. |

It's funny, it's ironic and it makes sense because of the logical implication that organized religions have to offer.
It would make a great punch line for a joke. I could see this as a skit that could go on, kind like a Bristish comedy maybe. |

From your mother's perspective, it makes sense. But, the nice thing is that you have your own perspective. |
| Biggles | | posted 13-Jan-2008 9:28am |
No, that's not irony. Irony would be more like you saying "I don't believe in God but I'm worried that's a sin." There's nothing ironic about your mother's response - that's exactly what you'd expect a religious person to say...
Okay, I'm British and we're irony snobs... |

It's not that far off some documentaries that Richard Dawkins has made. |

Yeah, I get this sometimes.
I think it just shows you how ignorant and narrow minded the religious can be. |

I could see it developing in my head. And it kept getting funnier. Canned laughter and everything. |

Ugh - I hate canned laughter. |

Irony is where the literal meaning is the opposite of the actual meaning. Irony is not a byword for 'a bit weird'.
This is not irony. |

Aren't we just. |

Not really ironic. But funny. I don't get why God would care if you believe in him anyway. |

"For I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God." Exodus 20:5 |

Thats only problematic if you go ahead and worship OTHER Gods. If the person doesn't believe in ANY Gods, wheres the jealously? Thats like getting jealous that a member of your preferred sex that you find attractive turns out to be asexual. |

Kind of funny? It's hilarious. |
| i_LUV_MV |
Well, the irony is, if you don't believe in God, why would you be afraid of committing sin? |
LJD | | posted 29-Mar-2008 4:38pm |
It's unwise to not believe in God. It is a parent's responsibility to teach his/her children of God's teaching, teaching the principles of life with God's Word. |
