I'm going with the soft fowwing roundish shape with the booba and the sharp tacky harsh kiki.

Do I win a cookie?

I think 1 is a kiki and 2 is a bouba. Kiki sounds to me like it should have sharp points, while boubas should be rounded. Are these real names that are assigned to these shapes, or just something you made up?

It's a language experiment that demonstrates that the way an object looks often determines what we think the word should sound like.

kiki is the pointy shape because the letters in kiki are pointy and it sounds pointy too
bouba is the rounded shape for similar reasons

It seems to be a pretty effective experiment!

I thought that it's more to do with words we associate with those kind of shapes; 'kiki' is similar to 'spikey' (spiky?). The syllables and the 'k' sound are quite short and harsh, whereas bouba sounds longer, the 'b' more muted. It's a soft noise. Also, the way the 'a' fades out instead of just being the same syllable twice sounds more smooth. But, I like your idea too.

What you said is pretty close to how I feel about it too... it's kind of a deep feeling, so when I went to express it I was kind of straining to put words to how I felt and it wasn't quite right. I'm not sure if the shapes of the letters is as important as the sounds, but since both seemed to fit, I mentioned it.

1 is kiki and 2 is bouba.

A kiki has sharp points and bouba has round ones, right?

kiki sounds more angular, and bouba sounds more rounded....

The pointy object (1) should be the kiki.

The blobby thing (2) looks more like a bouba.

1 kiki and 2 bouba, that's a guess.
