Actually, none of these. I rarely ever go to the movies. If I see something I like, I just rent it when it hits the movie house. |

None. Haven't been to a theatre in years. |
| kirst |
Of these, Hairspray. |

Just 300 and Transformers.
Though, I saw Epic Movie, Order of the Phoenix, Hot Fuzz, and Smokin' Aces at home on DVD. |

I never go to movie theaters. If something comes to Pay Per View or finally 'free' on Dish I might watch it.
The grandkids rented the "Epic Movie" so I was forced to watch that piece of crap- dumbest trash excuse for a movie I've seen since Mel Brooks days. Even the grandkids thought it was totally stupid. |

Out of those, I only saw Blades of Glory and Harry Potter.
I saw both with my parents. Seeing Blades of Glory with my parents was mildly uncomfortable. |

300, Harry Potter V, Pirates, and Sweeney (well, it may not count since I saw it this year). I saw Hot Fuzz and Shrek the Third on DVD. |

300, Hairspray, Harry Potter, Hot Fuzz... heavy on the hs, I guess... |

1 - Shrek the Third. Loved it! Many of these movies have not screened here in NZ. |
LindaH |
None of them. I have to be intensely calm, relaxed and focused to watch an entire movie. Needless to say, I don't watch many movies. |
| CarlHalling |
None of them; I'm strictly a home movie watcher I'm afraid. |

I feel so inadequate! I haven’t seen any of the above-mentioned flicks. I needa life. |

Hairspray was the only one I saw in the movies, but I've also seen 300, Blades of Glory, Harry Potter and Hot Fuzz |

Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, and Pirates of the Carribean: At World's End. |

I haven't been to the cinema since Holly was born. I have however seen Harry Potter and Hot Fuzz on DVD. I want to see 300. |

The last 25 minutes of Harry Potter IMAX were in 3D and it was really cool to see! |

Harry Potter and Pirates of the Caribbean - I watched Transformers on dvd. |

Harry Potter, which I really enjoyed - the best HP film yet. At World's End, which I thought was rubbish. Shrek III, which was okay but not a patch on the first one (or even the second one).
I also saw The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford which was really good - I'd definitely recommend it. That's everything I saw in a cinema - I want to go and see The Golden Compass and The Kite Runner in the next couple of weeks though. |

Harry Potter and the Pirates of the Caribbean? Is she doing an eighth book? |

... We Own the Night seems to be missing from the list.. I guess I forgot to add it.
Oh well. Anyone I talked to about that movie either didn't want to see it or didn't like it. |

I thought this Harry Potter was the worst. Well, second worst, nothing is worse than that crap Alphonso Couron (sp?) calls the third movie. I thought this movie was so badly chopped up and way too much was sacrificed for parts of the book that are not that interesting. They could've made it longer and added few more scenes, and not have cut out one of my favourite characters, Mundungus Fletcher And so much was changed from the book. I understand literature and film are two different media and what works in one medium does not necessarily works in the other, but a line must be drawn somewhere. |

Alfonso Cuaron, and the man is a GENIUS. |

Be that as it may, I thought he did a horrible job on the third movie. |

And I think III and V are the best films!
I agree that there was a lot left out - I would have preferred to have seen a TV series based on the books, where all the details and character development could have been left in (or added to ), but if you are going to make a film, you have to cut it down somehow. I thought Order of the Phoenix was the worst of the books in terms of plot - major HP fans will get a lot from it because it contains a huge amount of detail, but for me, that swamped the story. In a way, the film cut through a lot of that. Yes, it was rather brutal, but I have low expectations of film adaptations of books anyway!

Well, we'll just have to agree to disagree. I haven't not liked anything he's done so far (including Prisoner of Azkaban, and his short documentary based on the book I'm currently reading, The Shock Doctrine), with Children of Men being just one of the best movies ever made period. |
Iseult | | (reply to Biggles) posted 10-Jan-2008 4:21pm |
I kind of liked Order of the Phoenix as a book, but Chamber of Secrets is my absolute favourite.
I just have one request for Half-Blood Prince and that is not to cut the whole dialogue between Snape and Harry where Harry goes 'There's no need to call me Sir, Professor' because that's absolutely brilliant and hilarious. |
| autumnlight | | (reply to Melf) posted 11-Jan-2008 8:26am |
No, that's true. I think he might play a good odd minor character - Ollivander or even Stan Shunpike. |
| Biggles | | (reply to Iseult) posted 11-Jan-2008 10:13am |
The films do seem to leave out a lot of the humour that's in the books. There's a lot of humour in the dialogue in the books, but the films seem to favour visual humour, which is a shame. |
Iseult | | (reply to Biggles) posted 11-Jan-2008 6:02pm |
I agree there - some say that sarcasm is lowest form of humour. I would say slapstick is the lowest form of humour. I'm fine with occasional joke being physical, but you can't base majority of material on it. Alas, Rupert Grint is so cute when he is doing his facial expression, so I don't mind it so much. |

None of the above.
The only movies I saw in the theatre in 2007 were "3:10 to Yuma" and "Halloween" (Rob Zombie's new version) |

Only Harry Potter in this list at the theater. |
