No, I don't believe. I tend to be skeptical until something is proven to me.
With "paranormal world" stuff, I'm also a little concerned, since there are people who seem to make a living off their claims that they have psychic powers or that they can talk to dead people and whatnot. So, when someone says they believe I get the urge to warn them to be careful. These psychics can be a con artists. They tell people what they want to hear, for a price. They typically know a lot of tricks, much of it is psychology. Often the people they are tricking are in pain (they lost a loved one or something like that). So, it can be a fairly despicable thing to do.
On the other hand, if your belief is just for fun (like reading horoscopes in the paper), that's fine, have fun. Just be careful and wary of con artists. |

I have had no experiences with the paranormal world |

I think so, but I'm not entirely convinced. |

I have an open mind on most of these subjects, like ghosts, even if I myself haven't yet experienced them. Who am I to say that others can't have such experiences? |
Enheduanna |
No. |

Sometimes I do and sometimes I don't. I have experienced some things that I go back and forth on. |

No. I'm still very curious about it. Although I think they're frauds, I was always interested in what George and Kathy Lutz were doing. |

No... it's wishful thinking. There's no evidence of it and it frankly doesn't make any sense and is not at all consistent with the way the world seems to work. If you want to live in an irrational place that exists only in your head... go for it. Just leave the rest of us alone. |

Oh yes I do believe in ghosts and they are trying to find their way to the light and cross over to the other side
and soon this program will be on called Mediums who can help those who want to cross over
yet they have been unable to cross over on their own
I love Ghost Whisperer every Friday night where she can see them and help them out |

Paranormal simply means above or beyond what is normal, i.e beyond that which can be explained rationally. We're not too far away from an age in which mental illness was seen as evidence of demonic possession. Fortunately, our understanding of the universe has increased since then. Obviously, I accept that there are limitations to what we are capable of understanding as a species. What I don't accept is making crap up in order to fill the gaps.
It wouldn't surprise me if 200 hundred years from now someone says, "We're not too far away from an age in which people actually believed that ghosts existed. Imagine that!" |

I do believe there are spirits around us, I have felt it before. In the house we live in now a person died at his own hand in one of the bedrooms, I don't tell people about this because I don't want to freak people out. I have had a few people say they don't like going in that room because they get a funny feeling, and that's with having no idea what happened in that room.
I don't know about psychics, I do believe there are a few that have the gift but there are a lot of fakes who just capatilize
on people. I did go to a psychic once that I think was for real, she predicted that my boss was going to be let go in april and that did happen (the reading was in Nov.)
She asked for my childrens birthdates I gave her all three including my son who had died. I gave no indication that he had died. She had her eyes closed during the whole reading, First she told me some things about my daughter that was pretty accurate, then she told me some things about my younger son that was accurate and when she got to my deceased son birthdate she had to concentrate really hard. She said I can't really get anything on him all I'm getting is a foggy feeling and bright lights like stars or something. She had no Idea that he was dead. That gave me goosbumps.
When I told her she says ahh that explains it. I was convinced. |

I believe in an underlying single-consciousness interconnectdness between all thoughts and matter which is a medium for the traversal of narrative archetypal forces. Seed-thoughts are propogated through reality and become physically or psychically manifest.
I have also seen ghosts, but find them to be no more preposterous than any other living or inert matter present. It's more a matter of which wavelength of reality we perceive. |

Yes, the term “paranormal refers to supernatural” phenomenon that is not easily explained by mans current perception of physics and science. Some phenomena that used to be called paranormal are now accepted as modern technology like radio and television, x-ray photography and things like that. Everything can be explained even if it is not readily experienced with our natural senses.

Yes, ghosts haunt those who believe. |

Me too. I feel very uncomfortable watching TV programmes like 'Most Haunted'. The guy who stars in it, Derek Acorah is your typical conman who sells out theatres in the UK where he 'helps people' by communicating to their lost loved ones. I think it's very wrong. |

We had a guy named John Edward (not to be confused with John Edwards, the politician), he had a semi-popular show for while. I think he's no longer on now, though. I know some skeptics went after him and caught him using various tricks, like shills and pre-screening, and interviewing audience members (so he basically knew their stories before he got on stage). He put on a good show... |
| autumnlight | | (reply to bill) posted 27-Mar-2008 7:33pm |
Yeah, there's some youtube clips of Derek being caught out faking as well. I think they should have to have some kind of disclaimer on their shows telling people that it's just entertainment. |
