Me and everyone I know has at some point or another...are you talking about a chest cold or a stomach bug? |

I've had it a couple of times, but the only time I really remember having it was just before I turned 20. I decided to stay an extra week at university after the end of term to catch up with some work. The day after the end of term, I had an awful sore throat - I was off building with Habitat for Humanity and I spent the whole day barely able to talk and wanting desperately to go home and go to sleep. The next day, I woke up and just felt awful - so bad that I knew it was flu right away. All my friends had gone home, so I spent the next couple of days in bed - just getting up in time for the cleaner coming round for the bin, but then going back to bed again. I have vague recollections of posting here at SC, and only being able to manage to type one comment before needing to go back to bed again. I also tried to keep eating and drinking small amounts - ever try eating mushy peas when you can't taste anything? Not something that I would recommend! About four days in, I folded and phoned my parents to come and pick me up - my dad had to take the day off work - but I just couldn't keep going on my own. I couldn't even make it to the toilet because I couldn't walk and I didn't want to crawl down the corridor and have anyone see me - crawling at home wasn't a problem!
Once I qualify, I should get offered a flu jab every year - I'll definitely take it! |

I got it once, in the 90s. Last year, I got a stomach flu, though that's not real flu. My wife had gotten the flu more than once, I think. And, various friends have too. I actually got a flu shot this year, because it was free and easy and they gave me a pen and an offered me a donut too. |

Yes, my children and I got it two or three winters ago. I swear I thought they would die from it. I have never seen them so sick. Swore we would get the flu shot after that but haven't yet...I'm afraid of it for some reason. |

Is that different from the stomach flu where you throw up all day and moan bitterly? |

Yes - gastric flu isn't caused by the influenza virus, it's just called that for some reason... |

FoxTurtle thought he had the flu on Saturday, but woke up Sunday and realized he was wrong, so... |

Yes. But, be aware, there are other illnesses that appear to be the flu, but can be of a more serious nature.
I wish everyone a safe, Happy New Year! |

I second that! Be good, if you can't be good don't get caught. God Bless and Happy New Year! |

I think they are kinda both the same and me I had both flu and stomach flu and just sick all over and throwing up |
| RGirl |
I very rarely get that kind of sick. I tend to get the chest cold kind of flu. |

And I get these headaches lots of times and so you get this kind of flu probably just as bad and it keeps me in bed
all day long and no I will not get any flu shots this year or next year
I still feel healthy despite all this sickness |

Myself and everybody I've ever known! No. There was one woman I met when I was 11 y.o. She said that she's never been sick a day in her life. |
