| Enheduanna | posted 1-Dec-2007 11:54am If he only did it for one day, I wouldn't be all that worried. But he should really go see a dentist; he probably needs antibiotics and a root canal. And they can give him some real pain-killers. |
| thecomic22 | posted 1-Dec-2007 12:06pm Pretty stupid. |
| llamamama | posted 1-Dec-2007 12:21pm Um, are you dumb?
The box comes with this spiffy thing called, directions! Imagine that! |
| labjog | posted 1-Dec-2007 1:24pm I don't blame them, a toothache is a dog, although I would take something stronger like Vicodin. Dilada or something with codeine in it.
With all of that tylenol I would be concerned about the effects on the liver, but if it was just a one time thing I wouldn't worry. |
| LindaH | posted 1-Dec-2007 1:54pm I would think it's a sad situation and says something about the expense and time consuming inconvenience of getting decent medical care and medicine. |
| Amanda | posted 1-Dec-2007 2:05pm First, I'd think their tooth must really hurt. Second, I'd think they were kinda stupid for not taking something stronger. |
| LJD | posted 1-Dec-2007 2:06pm Why didn't the person contact an emergency dentist? Tylenol will damage the liver...and 27!!!! I wish the person well. |
| darkshadowsseeker | posted 1-Dec-2007 2:07pm Stupid, irresponsible, candidate for liver damage. If the pain was that severe, they should have gone to an emergency dentist or even the E.R. (as a last resort). |
| Biggles | posted 1-Dec-2007 2:26pm That sounds like overdosing. He should think of his liver (and depending on the doseage in each of those tablets, it may be worth getting some medical advice/follow-up tests). |
| southernyankee | posted 1-Dec-2007 2:30pm dee dee dee |
| cabinfever | posted 1-Dec-2007 4:13pm Irresponsible to his family, and his health. Sounds like he wants to punch holes in his liver. A toothache that severe warrants an immediate visit to the dentist, yesterday, if not sooner. |
| romkey | posted 1-Dec-2007 5:42pm Yes, stupid comes to mind. Tylenol won't solve the problem. |
| JessicaWoman99 | posted 1-Dec-2007 6:31pm Quick give them some more tylenol they need more and me i take up to 20 in just 12 ours |
| kcthedog | posted 1-Dec-2007 6:40pm Something is wrong with this picture! If you have that much pain you see a doctor! |
| kcthedog | (reply to Biggles) posted 1-Dec-2007 6:43pm Hello Biggles! I have missed you! How is your school going? |
| LindaH | posted 1-Dec-2007 9:22pm If it didn't take two days and half a paycheck to see a doctor and get medicine, people might not do things like this. |
| RGirl | posted 1-Dec-2007 9:40pm Can't read? |
| bill | posted 1-Dec-2007 9:49pm go to the frikkin' dentist already |

| LindaH | posted 1-Dec-2007 10:31pm Do you have a sliding fee clinic near you that has dental or eye care? |
| mrmarm | posted 1-Dec-2007 11:42pm What's that? |

call your dentist and get some vicodin!! |
| Lahdee | posted 2-Dec-2007 6:19am My dentist prescribes Hydrocodone. I'm glad because Vicodin makes me feel weird. |
| Biggles | (reply to kcthedog) posted 2-Dec-2007 7:39am It's going well, thanks |
| kcthedog | (reply to Biggles) posted 2-Dec-2007 12:10pm Much better Thank-you! I ended up in the hospital with a punctured esophagus and stomach problems. I almost died! After six months in the hospital, unable to eat solid foods or drink fluids (very hard) I was released the middle of last year. Since then I have been getting my life back together. My health has returned and my finances are recovering as well. I lost my business but I fell into a great job as regional engineer for a large company that installs photovoltaic systems, I design them!
When I came back you were one of the first members I looked for. I had some great conversations with you, Southern Yankee, Cereal Killer, and others. I am glad to be back! Good luck with your studies! And Happy holidays! |
| Biggles | (reply to kcthedog) posted 2-Dec-2007 2:02pm Wow - it sounds like you've had a really tough time of it. Are you able to eat and drink normally now? |
| evangaline | posted 2-Dec-2007 2:23pm There are OTC pain killers that are stronger than Tylenol. Why didn't he take some of those instead. He probably has done some damage to his liver and I hope he's not much of a drinker or he'll really have problems. |
| kcthedog | (reply to Biggles) posted 2-Dec-2007 3:19pm Yes I am! When was in the hospital my stomach malfunctioned (I am sorry I cannot recite the malady, and I do not want to embarrass myself in front of a medical student) to the point that I was told I would take nourishment directly into to my small intestine the rest of my life! And that I was going to require a partial esophagus replacement, it was pretty grim! I had a horrific time not being able to drink, it was worse than not eating! I overcame hunger after about a week or two but not to be able to swallow was a torment. I contracted an internal infection within my chest cavity due to the leak in my throat.
I am fortunate, the doctors were amazed, my stomach started generating all the right gastric juices again and the hole in the throat healed over time, a miracle of sorts. My surgeon said he had never seen a case like mine have a complete recovery in thirty years! I had many a struggle lying there in bed not knowing what was going to happen to me. I had no insurance and medical costs were over a million dollars, my bird died, my mortgage was in jeopardy and I lost my business. A dark day had come for sure! I had lost my faith years before after my wife left me, but I have gained a renewed hope and faith. Things are getting better everyday and I thank GOD! Now I can eat and drink with no restrictions, I am healed |
| Iseult | posted 2-Dec-2007 5:59pm Tootaches are horrible. Pain can sometimes make you do things you otherwise wouldn't. However, a more productive course of action would have been to see a dentist. |
| dbarnes | posted 2-Dec-2007 6:09pm Stupid, irresponsible & a fudging idiot. The bottle comes with a warning about taking too much. Read it you twit. |
| judgescratch | posted 3-Dec-2007 8:42am It's his liver. |
| LindaH | (reply to evangaline) posted 3-Dec-2007 12:24pm Which ones? |
| collegegranny | (reply to cloudhugger) posted 3-Dec-2007 5:12pm If they had to take that many then off to the ER we go. |
| icurok | posted 4-Dec-2007 5:26am Tylenol is a brand name and isn't sold over here. I'd have to check what the active ingredient was.
[checks] Paracetamol?! Good grief! Do you want to die of liver failure? Regular strength Tylenol contains 325mg of Paracetamol. That means that 27 tablets contains nearly 9 grams, at which point (depending on your weight), Paracetamol is toxic. Adding alcohol to the mix increases the toxicity. |
| ihatespiders | posted 4-Dec-2007 11:24pm Tylenol will not stop a tooth ache. If it is infected no pain medicine will stop the pain. I did know one person who drank whisky until it stopped hurting. |
| evangaline | (reply to LindaH) posted 5-Dec-2007 3:31am Advil and Aleve are stronger than Tylenol. At least they work when Tylenol doesn't. |
| autumnlight | posted 5-Dec-2007 7:45am His tooth must hurt a lot. |
| flounderific | posted 10-Dec-2007 6:46pm I'd think he's too stupid for words to risk his health. |

From Wikipedia:
Overdose
Overdose of acetaminophen is serious and can be fatal from liver toxicity, killing about 1% of those who seek treatment due to the delayed effects. In heavy drinkers, regular use of acetaminophen increases liver damage from alcohol.
Acetaminophen toxicity is the most common cause of acute liver failure in the United States, accounting for 39 percent of cases. It occurs both after attempted suicide by acetaminophen overdose and after unintentional overdoses.[3] In some susceptible people, even small doses, combined with small amounts of alcohol, have caused irreversable liver failure.
Acetaminophen can also cause kidney failure in vulnerable patients, including alcoholics, elderly men and those with existing liver or kidney damage[4].
