| Melf | posted 27-Nov-2007 8:32am 31, if all are on. If they aren't... about seven. |
| Kristal_Rose | posted 27-Nov-2007 8:52am At the moment, two.
At absolute most, 21, that's if I have my five color medusa lamp and lava-lamp going, project spots, and every bulb in the house including the stove hood and have the fridge open. Some strands of christmas lights could add another 60. |
| cloudhugger | posted 27-Nov-2007 9:40am There are so freaking many.... I'm guessing in the 30's range. Hopefully no more than one is on at a time. |
| Galomorro | posted 27-Nov-2007 11:12am Three. One in the bathroom, one in the main room, and one of those energy-saving ones in the kitchen. There's also one outside in the apt. building hall that burns all day and night but it's not my responsibility. |
| Iseult | posted 27-Nov-2007 11:17am I'd say thirty. |
| Enheduanna | posted 27-Nov-2007 12:00pm Currently, 0 of them are on. But there are 26 or so of them in various lamps and fixtures throughout the house. I'm counting regular bulbs, not weird little mini-bulbs that light up buttons on electronics or things like that. |
| Kristal_Rose | (reply to Enheduanna) posted 27-Nov-2007 12:33pm Dang, I forgot to count those.
These past few weeks I've been programming a microchip, and the only way I have for it to communicate to me what's doing is to flash banks of LEDs to represent codes and procedure sequences. |
| Enheduanna | (reply to Kristal_Rose) posted 27-Nov-2007 12:37pm I imagine if you counted up all the little LEDs and such, it would be in the hundreds, at least, in the average household. |
| cerealkiller | posted 27-Nov-2007 1:37pm At once?
Right now with the mass of Christmas lights we have all over outside it's probably 1000 |
| darkshadowsseeker | posted 27-Nov-2007 1:54pm Only one is in use right now, the desk lamp. |
| JessicaWoman99 | posted 27-Nov-2007 2:26pm Far to many lightbulbs to count in this house |
| thecomic22 | posted 27-Nov-2007 2:46pm 10 or 11 |
| ausfox | posted 27-Nov-2007 3:12pm About 30 |
| mrmarm | posted 27-Nov-2007 3:50pm I don't know and I don't feel like counting. |
| Crayons | posted 27-Nov-2007 5:34pm 56. Wow, that was fun, just running around the house and counting. Even the refrigerater and microwave lights count? |
| RGirl | posted 27-Nov-2007 6:10pm Lots and lots. |
| RainingFeathers | posted 27-Nov-2007 6:55pm I counted 34, though I'm sure I missed a few. (I don't actually have enough spare time to count light bulbs, but I'll do anything to procrastinate.) |
| romkey | posted 27-Nov-2007 9:07pm We have a lot of lights... |
| kcthedog | posted 27-Nov-2007 10:40pm 8 Not counting the christmas lights. |
| Kristal_Rose | (reply to Crayons) posted 28-Nov-2007 1:47am If they're on at the time, or fit whatever you figure the the 'in use' context to mean, then I would suppose so.
LEDS only use 5v. but they can often indicate that some 120v. 30watt appliance is quietly draining transformer power in standby mode. |
| bill | posted 28-Nov-2007 7:20am 75, roughly. I counted most of the florescent fixtures too. Though, I didn't count the lights in my wife's fish/snake/terrarium tanks.
I realize now that I should have been more clear in how I worded this survey. |
| they | posted 28-Nov-2007 7:31am Wow... this one is a thinker.
Okay.... In my bedroom, there's a lamp and a little lantern. It's really an outdoor decorative paper party lantern... but it works really well because it's a dim light and Ben can use it when he's getting ready in the morning without waking me. So that's 2. Mary's Room: 1 Office: 1 Bathroom: 4 (but I think one is blown) Hall: 2 Kitchen: 2 Dining Room: 3 in the ceiling, 1 in a lamp Living Room: 2 in the fish tank and that's it. So total: 17 Not too bad. |
| ultamate | posted 28-Nov-2007 6:28pm I have four that is on at the moment but I have about 25 through out the house. |
| Crayons | (reply to Kristal_Rose) posted 28-Nov-2007 9:38pm I think in use means they're not the spare ones just laying around in a box.
Oh. I see. |
| evangaline | (reply to bill) posted 29-Nov-2007 5:03pm Do you mean how many light bulbs are turned on right now, or how many light bulbs there are in all rooms of my home? |
| bill | (reply to evangaline) posted 29-Nov-2007 6:56pm I meant in all the rooms of your home... sorry, I wasn't clear, I can see that people answered it both ways |
| butterfingersbeck | posted 30-Nov-2007 10:21am All but one of the standard bulbs in our household are low-energy fluorescents - we have one incandescent bulb on a dimmer where a fluorescent would not work, plus various ornamental LED and low-voltage fittings. |
| Biggles | posted 1-Dec-2007 3:00pm One in each room - so 10. There's also a fluorescent tube in the kitchen, but that lasts years at a time, so I didn't count it. There's a lamp in my room too, but it doesn't have a bulb at the moment. |
| Kristal_Rose | (reply to Biggles) posted 1-Dec-2007 9:47pm Why doesn't that count? Perhaps the motive of the survey is electrical consumption. I hear Bill Clinton has a $30k/mo. electric bill. He must have a mansion with refridgerators and chandaliers in every room.
Your room doesn't have a bulb? How sad. |
| Biggles | (reply to Kristal_Rose) posted 2-Dec-2007 7:43am I wouldn't define a fluorescent tube as a "light-bulb" but I may well be wrong. My room has a bulb, but the lamp I would use for reading at night or for some extra light when I'm studying does not. Even though my room is very small, the main light doesn't make it very bright, so the extra light would be a help. I have a daylight bulb tucked away somewhere - that might be better for me, especially with the long dark afternoons really drawing in now.
$30k/month is just crazy. Maybe Al Gore needs to go and have a word. |
| Amanda | posted 2-Dec-2007 12:21pm 22, I think. |
| evangaline | (reply to bill) posted 2-Dec-2007 2:14pm Thanks for replying. Right now I'm at the library, so I can't count them. I guess I'll have to count them and write that down for next time. |
| Kristal_Rose | (reply to Biggles) posted 2-Dec-2007 5:00pm Maybe it was yearly. That would still be crazy. I worked for someone who's bill was 10 x higher than mine. I could hardly see the difference. I think it was mostly all the heating of the swimming pool. |
| dbarnes | posted 2-Dec-2007 6:31pm Let's see, 2 in the bathroom fixture, 1 over the kitchen sink, 2 in the bedroom fixture, 2 in the 2 living lamps, 2 in the utility room fixture=11. 12 if you count the porch light. |
| autumnlight | posted 6-Dec-2007 7:53am Lots. We have spotlights in most rooms which are really bad and cant use energy efficient bulbs. But since we rent the place we cant change that. |
| moviesnob | posted 19-Dec-2007 9:55am I guess 31-40, since we have a couple of bathrooms w/ vanity lighting above the mirrors . . . |
