| Melf | posted 20-Nov-2007 2:38pm It's just the usual BT one. |
| ausfox | posted 20-Nov-2007 2:46pm "Hi, you've reached _, and ___. We're not home right now, but if you leave a message we'll give you a call back'.
Boring, I know. |
| LindaH | posted 20-Nov-2007 3:42pm A robotic voice saying "Please leave a message" |
| darkshadowsseeker | posted 20-Nov-2007 4:57pm I don't have an answering machine, but my cell phone has voice mail. It gives my phone number & asks the caller to leave a message, all in a robotic female voice. |
| Galomorro | posted 20-Nov-2007 6:11pm Other. It is the digital voice that came with the machine. It automatically says, "Please...leave...a...message." I resisted getting one in the first place but back when I was looking for work, my counselor bullied me into it. I've never put my own voice on there. It's for emergencies only now if someone I really want to hear from is unable to reach me in person or by email/instant messenger. |
| Crayons | posted 20-Nov-2007 6:40pm The default dude, I don't think it can be changed, I would though.
I wish i had one like this though. |
| darkshadowsseeker | (reply to Crayons) posted 20-Nov-2007 6:44pm GAH...please tell me you're not serious! |
| Crayons | (reply to darkshadowsseeker) posted 20-Nov-2007 6:46pm Oh, yes I am. We'd never get called by grandma again. |
| RGirl | posted 20-Nov-2007 6:46pm I don't know the exact words just that it is an automated woman's voice basically saying 'I can't come to the phone right now....' |
| Amanda | posted 20-Nov-2007 7:12pm I've got voicemail. It's the generic one now. A robotic woman's voice saying, "You have reached the voice mail box of 601.218.. To leave a message, press one or stay on the line. To send a number press two." |
| darkshadowsseeker | (reply to Crayons) posted 20-Nov-2007 7:16pm I can think of better ways to stop someone from calling without resorting to this. |
| Crayons | (reply to darkshadowsseeker) posted 20-Nov-2007 7:31pm Yeah, but are they as torturous? |
| darkshadowsseeker | (reply to Crayons) posted 20-Nov-2007 7:45pm No, but do you really want to torture your grandma that badly? |
| Crayons | (reply to darkshadowsseeker) posted 20-Nov-2007 7:48pm Well, maybe not my grandma.... |
| darkshadowsseeker | (reply to Crayons) posted 20-Nov-2007 8:03pm Well, who do you want to torture then? |
| Otter | posted 20-Nov-2007 8:41pm Welcome to Verizon Wireless. The wireless customer you are trying to reach has either fallen off the edge of the earth or is in a black hole of cellular coverage screaming at the top of his lungs, "Can you hear me now?" In a voice that I tried to sound like James Earl Jones. |
| mrmarm | posted 20-Nov-2007 8:56pm I don't have one, unless mobiles can do that. |
| JessicaWoman99 | posted 20-Nov-2007 10:15pm A male voice he is on my answering machine Please Leave a Message and my sister she has the same thing
on her answering machine |
| FordGuy | posted 20-Nov-2007 10:39pm I don't have an answering machine, but... |
| Enheduanna | posted 21-Nov-2007 12:05am It informs the caller that we don't answer that phone anymore, and to call us on our respective cell-phones instead. |
| ihatespiders | posted 21-Nov-2007 1:34am A message that came with the machine. |
| Pomeranian | posted 21-Nov-2007 4:49am |
| justjulie | posted 21-Nov-2007 6:45am what it was for years and years and years...was the line from the Joe Walsh song, "Life's Been Good".
"....just leave a message, maybe i'll call..." that was all |
| they | posted 21-Nov-2007 8:06am Dead Silence. Only people that know me know for sure they got me before they leave a message. |
| bill | posted 21-Nov-2007 8:23am "Hello, you've reached Bill and Jen, please leave a message." |
| bill | (reply to Crayons) posted 21-Nov-2007 8:25am lol, that's a funny clip. |
| paulyw | posted 21-Nov-2007 10:11am I have an answering machine, but I don't use it to often. |
| cloudhugger | posted 21-Nov-2007 9:24pm It is....I don't know. My Mary said something pretty bland, I need to get my old message back on it. It's my cat and I. |
| LindaH | posted 23-Nov-2007 7:45pm I like those generic robotic ones that don't identify who you called. You never know if you got the wrong number. |
| llamamama | posted 23-Nov-2007 8:06pm Heeey, how's it goin'? *Pause* Really? That's pretty sweet..
Pretty much, the person has a conversation with ''me''..and then the thing beeps..and they realize that it was the answering machine..bwhahahaha |
| llamamama | posted 23-Nov-2007 8:08pm Yeah, cell phones can do that. |
| LJD | posted 24-Nov-2007 2:48am Hello, thank you for calling, please leave a message. |
| mrmarm | (reply to llamamama) posted 24-Nov-2007 7:47am Even old ones, one of my smart ass friends kept on locking my keypad and laughing at me since I didn't know how to unlock it. I don't know ..... I just thought I'd mention that. |
| they | posted 24-Nov-2007 8:38am Half the time, it just says something like "This mailbox is full".
I HATE checking voicemail and reading snail mail. Both stack up on me because I avoid it so desperately. |
| bill | (reply to they) posted 24-Nov-2007 9:28am I think "Bill & Jen" is more common, but there was a time that I consciously tried to use "Jen & Bill" instead. Either is fine with me. |
| llamamama | posted 24-Nov-2007 9:50am It should be the last four digits of your number..Well, that's how it was for my old phone.
How old is it? |
| mve17 | posted 24-Nov-2007 2:25pm Uh.. not sure.. I've never phoned myself when I'm not in.. |
| mrmarm | (reply to llamamama) posted 24-Nov-2007 4:20pm 3 years old. |
| llamamama | posted 24-Nov-2007 5:40pm Yeah, you should be able to make your own message |
| kcthedog | posted 24-Nov-2007 8:34pm Hello! I am not home, please leave a message and I will be glad to return your call as soon as possible, Thank-you!
Or .. This is the party to Hume you are speaking, although I am not able to intelligently converse with you at this time please call 911 and I am sure they will be able to provide any assistance you may need! Or (Insert heavy breathing here!) .beep! |
| mrmarm | (reply to llamamama) posted 25-Nov-2007 2:19am Hm I will then, wait how do you do that? |
| llamamama | posted 25-Nov-2007 1:28pm Well, on mine, you call your voicemail..(your number), and it'll give that as an option. |
| mrmarm | (reply to llamamama) posted 25-Nov-2007 5:51pm Okay thanks. |
| llamamama | posted 25-Nov-2007 5:59pm I'm about to change mine. I'm going to have my dad do it, it'll be hilarious. |
| mrmarm | (reply to llamamama) posted 25-Nov-2007 6:26pm ha, I'm still debating of whether or not to since everyone who has my number is under different pretenses of my personality, for instance family wouldn't appreciate the message I'd leaving if targeted for friends and friends wouldn't understand one targeted for family. |
| llamamama | posted 25-Nov-2007 9:10pm I had my dad do one with Mr. T. He sounds just like him, it's hilarious.
"Kelly can't come to the phone right now, so leave a message. I pity da fool who don't leave a message. I pity 'em." |
| autumnlight | posted 26-Nov-2007 9:47am Me asking someone to leave a message, but I probably wont call them back because I wont have enough money to, so keep trying. |

My wife thought up this funny message to harass the bill collectors. No, our last name isn't Pickle. |
| Iseult | posted 26-Nov-2007 8:47pm I don't have one. It would costs me an extra $6 to get one. I already pay about $40-60 a month for my phone. |
