VotesAnswer
13They don't understand what "alphanumeric" means. (referring to password creation)
13They don't understand terms like "copy & paste" or "drag & drop".
9You've been tempted to tell them that they're too dumb to own a computer.
8They don't understand what "right click" means.
7They get the mouse to the edge of the mouse pad & then complain that they have run out of room.
6They have gotten the "This program has performed an illegal operation and will be shut down" message & freaked out because they thought they were going to be arrested.
6Other computer illiterate options.
5They have asked whether other electronic devices, even those having no connection to their computer, can catch a computer virus.
5I don't know anyone this computer illiterate.
4They hold their computer mouse up in the air & click on the buttons.
4I'm this computer illiterate.
2They have asked if it's possible for them to catch the virus their computer has.
2They think AOL is the best thing since sliced bread.
2They have plugged the power strip into itself & can't understand why their computer isn't working.

My job requires several computerized tests to be taken in order to get hired.

So tell me.... how did they end up with a person in a training class that tried to use the mouse upside down?

I wouldn't say that not knowing what alphanumeric is is computer illiterate.

Apha=letters. Numeric=numbers. An alphanumeric password is a mixture of words or letters plus numbers & symbols such as @ or !. Many workplaces require them because they tend to be more secure.

My wife has never used a computer in her life. Probably couldn't find the power button.

It took me a long time to figure some stuff out. I'm still that way. As things change I have trouble adjusting. Don't explain anything in too much detail or I get lost. Will the internet ever run out of room?

AOL=America Online. It's an ISP that practically holds your hand. Very annoying for those who don't need the help.

I went to a focus group for my high school earlier his evening and we were talking about computer illiteracy. My old form tutor was directing a lot of what he said at me; I must have 'fixed' his computer at least once a week.

Maybe I'm computer illiterate because I sure don't know what 'alphanumeric' means. I guess I'll have to ask my nephew about that.
