What is your least favorite song by your favorite singer?

No matter how much we like our favorite singers, there is always without a doubt a song your favorite artist has recorded on which you think he or she didn't do very well--whether you think the singer could have done a better job or the song was just plain boring. When you answer, mention your favorite singer, the song you think he or she has done the worst job on, and why you don't like the song.

Just looking through my Itunes...
My least favourite Radiohead song is probably 'High and Dry'. It makes me really upset; it's very depressing, and I don't like the key it's in. It's about a boy lying in hospital after a motorbike accident (at least, that's how I read it). It has got some of Yorke's best lyrics, however:

'Drying up in conversation
You will be the one who cannot talk.
All your insides fall to pieces.
You just sit there wishing you could still make love.
They're the ones who'll hate you when you think you've got the world all sussed out.
They're the ones who'll spit at you.
You will be the one screaming out.'

When I was really into the Chilis I always hated 'Universally Speaking'. It's too generic-soft-rock-By-The-Way-Chilis.

It's not so much that I don't think they could do a better job, nor any one particular artist, but what bugs me a lot is when they try to put rock or classical bits in a traditional folktune -- I want authentic folk, not folktunes "watered down" with too much rock or classical piano or horns or something like that. If I want to listen to rock or easy listening stuff there's plenty of that around. I don't appreciate it when they put mellow strings in a fado tune, nor a symphony backup orchestra; I prefer my music on the "raw" and traditional side.

I wouldn't say I have a favorite singer, but Massive Attack has this song called "One Love" on their album Blue Lines that is just whiney and annoying. I can't stand it.

I have a few favorite singers:
Fergie: a few actually some are just too girlie girlie for my taste
Ying Yang Twins: 'Calling all zones' isn't that great, I just don't get it.
Will . I . Am : 'Spending money' and probably a few others because they're just a bit too tacky
Black eyed peas: 'Pump it a little' lame especially since my karate class did a performance to it so the song just seems to be a reminder of it.
I can't quite think of many one else
but Pharrels: 'young girl' is weird.

Love love love love love The Black Crowes...my least favorite is "Struttin' Blues" or "Midnight From the Inside Out"
I like them least, for it feels as if they were simply trying to fill in an empty space on their album.

It's really hard to come up with something because I don't tend to focus on such things. I'm actually in the habit of deleting songs I don't like from my mp3 collection. So, I tend to forget about them very quickly after that. I would have trouble picking a favorite singer as well. Maybe a good example would be Bjork, who I like, and has been my favorite at times, but not now. But, anyway, she has a lot of songs I don't like and have deleted.

I don't know about my FAVORITE singer, but there are some songs I detest by artists whose other works I enjoy. I don't like Luka by Suzanne Vega. I don't like Muskrat Love by The Captain and Tenille. I don't like Color My World by Chicago. I don't like Help Me I Think I'm Falling by Joni Mitchell. I don't like Roxanne by The Police. I don't like Live In Love In Woman by Led Zeppelin. I don't like Dance Hall Days by Wang Chung. I don't like Take My Breath Away by Berlin.

I don't like the content (too raunchy for me), and I don't like the heavy reggae thing. It's just not very *musical*. I don't like "I Can't Stand Losing" either, probably for the same reason. And their song "Mother" is right out, too.

All i can really really remember, is that it was the summer of shows for me...I had started off seeing Rush, then Oz Fest, then Further Fest, then Lilith Faire, then Aerosmith, and I know that I'm missing one in this line up, but cannot remember...actually, now that I'm thinking of it, I had gone to 2 Further Fests...the one w/ the Black Crowes was the first one, i cannot even tell you who all played at the second one.

It was one of the songs Elvis sang during his 70s concerts when he would go around to the girls in the audience and kiss them. I think he did a much better job on his live performances of "Love Me Tender" than he did on the original studio recording. *smile*

The many times i wished I could have seen Elvis back in the 70's before he died and he could kiss me anyday
and i remember I was working at this nursing home and the television was on 1977
The Breaking News comes on and they say Elvis Presley has died and what a shock it was to me and
i was down in Denver living with my mom and dad and working part time jobs when this all happened
now i live on my own and own this home up here in the mountains of Colorado

Like the Kennedy assassination and 9/11, almost everyone can remember what they were doing when they found out that Elvis died. I was just sitting at home watching TV when an ABC News Brief came on and announced it.

BTW, sorry it took me so long to get back to you. The reason being--speaking of dying--I had just lost Dad on December 2. He died after a long and courageous battle with lung cancer. *frown*
