they |
Sometimes.
I never buy them though.
I don't have money for things like that. When Rod and I broke up almost 3 years ago, we had his name taken off the joint account. I rarely use checks, so I kept the same checks... When I use them, I just scratch his name off. |

Not so much these days, but I used to order weird looking checks when I was younger. Now, I just get a solid color, becuase I'm old and boring. |

Yes, I don't inspect them as near much as I used to, I just skim them. I cannot help myself. What is that, anyway? |

bill rememnded me...I have always since the beginning of time bought the plain and simple ones. My mom used to dog all the time about not being able to read the checks she got at her office because of all the fancy print work on the fncy checks, so I was influenced to stay plain. Except for this time... http://surveycentral.org/forum/General/topic/8825/...
I'm about out of the Santa checks by now. |

sure, I look, but never buy.
I'm holding out for Felix the Cat or Cheshire Cat.
Also, would LOVE to see (shoot, total brain fart..but)...it's a grim alphabet. It's starts like this...
"A is for Amy who fell down the stairs...B is for Betsy(?) who was eaten by bears...."
yeah...if someone made those...they'd be mine |

I don't get "flyers" for new checks. I just have to send in a re-order form when they get close to running out. I never change designs. Mine are of kitties of course. |

what are check designs and new checks? |
CarolL | | (reply to justjulie) posted 7-Nov-2007 12:48pm |
hey, how are you doing? |
| darkshadowsseeker |
I haven't seen one of those flyers in many years. I wasn't even aware they were still around. |
Galomorro |
Yes, always. If I used checks more I'd like to custom-make my own. I rarely use checks or snailmail anymore though as I mainly bill-pay online. I've ordered checks from these kinds of flyers in the past but haven't seen one of these in a while. Probably because I automatically toss out all those coupons, etc. that are stuffed in newspapers as they rarely apply to what I normally buy. While the checks I used to order weren't perfectly customized, they were closer to my style than generic bank chex are. |

Yeah, but I never buy them. I think it's a waste of money. I just use the plain checks the bank gives me. |

I'm alright, thanks. Currently in colorful Colorado. Living w/ Scotty, Noah and my 13 yr. old stepdaughter Kayla. Noah's in Kindergarten this year, and Kayla is in 8th grade. Scotty is working as a service Tech for Dish network. And as of today, I'm training to be a dispatcher for the volunteer fire department here. Where we're located right now, is WAY out in the middle of "nowhere"...35 miles to get a beer, 20 miles for gas and smokes and school...tis lovely though.
how are YOU doing?

I look but I don't get them. |

I don't get designs on my checks, I just get the free ones that come with my account. |

YES!!!!
This is exactly what I mean. I cannot believe that I brain-farted the name of Edward Gorey, that's like spacing the name of Damien or Jesus or something.
Thank you a trillion times over for finding this, for it's truly been a while since I have read it. I saw a poster once upon a time w/ this on it...however didn't have the extra cash then. Someday it will be mine! Oh yes, someday it will.

What's a check flyer? |
| judgescratch |
All,
I'm surprised that this is a cultural thing. The Sunday paper is always jammed in the middle with advertisements and coupons for bank checks. All these different companies want to sell you their designs. I always find myself stopping to look, and I have bought, but, it really doesn't mean anything what the checks look like. All that really matters is that you have the money in the bank to clear the check! |
Iseult |
I've never encountered this. The only way I know to get cheques is directly from the bank, and yes, they give you the option to pick a design. |
| autumnlight |
You can't change what your cheques look like here as far as I'm aware - you just get your cheque book from the bank and that's it. |
| evangaline |
No, I use a debit card, not checks. |

Love looking at the many different ones |
