Women would you consider shaving off your hair or have you done so already?

I know quite a few women who are shaving off their hair and going bald and my sister she has cut
her hair as well and it sounds like the Britney Spears movement is here and men sorry not included

For years, I kept the underside shaved and the rest of it long.

I wouldn't mind bald as long as I could be sure my head is shaped okay.

I used to shave my head, but it's been several years since I've done so. I was shaving it pretty consistently for three or four years. I don't know if I would do it again. Probably not, but I can't rule it out completely.

Are you nuts? My hair is to me like it was to Samson! I'm a leo, my hair is my mane!

Gee, I wonder if the sheople would follow if Britney thought that carving her face with a hunting knife looked cool...

No I don't believe so. People like Brittney can do whatever they want. For those of us living in the real world, try your luck getting a job as a bald woman. It's tough enough.
Besides, I think the star-chasers are in agreement that the blonde one was having a breakdown when she paid someone to bald her.

The yes I ticked off is that I have already been bald. I had a brain operation and I LOVED my bald head (once I could appreciate it). It is now all long and curly as always, there was no change since I did not lose it as a result of chemotherapy, just shaving. I wanted it all taken off on the opertating table, not just half my head since it would have been more of a battle in my opinion.
I'm okay, my hair is okay, the universe is okay...it treated me right!

I was lucky...good shaped head. Only bumps are the ones that are made of whatever compound they use to create a non-caved-in head..good looking none the less...

I've never done it and it's not something I would consider under normal circumstances. When my mom was going through chemo, I told her I'd shave my head if she lost her hair. She had a big fear of losing all her hair and I'd have done it to be supportive...so she didn't have to go through the stares and stuff alone. Luckily, she didn't lose all her hair.

I never had the idea that anyone stared at me except to appreciate that there was life after whatever...no one on the street knew if I had cancer or if I chose to be bald or if I asked for a complete shave because they had to operate on my brain...I only wore a scarf when the 45 staples were visible and only when I was in public...I had NOTHING to hide...I do not hide my scar now, I am awesome and alive...If I had to get chemo now and I went bald by Christmas, I would not wear a headscarfe...no huge staples or scars to hide...I would celebrate that I am HERE and fighting.

I don't think anyone should try to hide it, either. I've known people who lost their hair during chemo and I've seen people look. I don't think people are trying to be rude. I guess it's natural for us to be curious when we see someone who has a look that's different. It's like after my brother had his wreck and was in a wheelchair for about a year...people would look like they were wondering what happened to this young teenager that would put him in a wheelchair. He was always really good natured about it, made jokes when he noticed people staring.

Speaking of being bald....several years ago, Caleb had to have surgery to repair his ear drum. They went in right behind the ear and had to shave the hair around it. When we got home from the hospital, my brother shaved the rest because it looked funny being partially shaved. So, Caleb was bald and he had visible stitches. He also refused to take off his hospital bracelet for several weeks. Anyhow, we were at a store one day and this woman kept giving me these looks. I didn't know what her deal was and went on about my business. As we were leaving the store, she came up and offered me money. I was so confused and I guess she could see it on my face. She told me it was for my sick little boy. Again, I must have looked confused. So, she asked me something about his brain surgery and if it was cancer. I explained it was nothing that serious, but I appreciated her kind thoughts. It really shocked me because even though Caleb looked different or whatever, I didn't see him as looking different. I didn't put a second thought into it when I looked at him.

Just backs up the idea of art where two people can look at one thing and there are two completely different perceptions...

Probably not - I need to maintain a certain professional image and I think a shaved head would be frowned on as much as facial piercings or visible tattoos.

I've already done this. At fifteen, and I wasn't completely bald, but a number two on the clippers. It's going to be a year ago exactly at the end of the month. It's something worth trying.

I shaved part of the ride side of my head yesterday. Goes from the front to about an inch behind my ear, and it's shaved down from where I would put a side parting. It was the first time I'd used the clippers; I put a number seven on them but it's turned out around four... I had to dye it blue because when I had it bleached we didn't do the roots properly and it's a bit patchy *grin*

I would consider it but I look terrible with short hair and it takes for ever to grow out.. I can't afford extensions. My hair color is so unique, they would look really funny. Natural strawberry blonde. I guess I could save what gets shaved off.

No. I would never want to do this. It takes way too long for my hair to grow, and I look better with longer hair.
