will 'crap' ever be the power supply for space ships?

i have an open mind, but i think this is pushing lateral thinking to far. while i understand the principle that the article in New Scientist puts forth i think it would need an army of space travelers to supply enough '....' to power a space ship.

If eating crap isn't feasible, I think using for power makes sense.

reclaiming waste is very important for mostly-closed systems (spaceships, orbiters, extra-terestrial bases, etc). solid waste is a reasonable source of raw materials. It would be foolish to overlook the water reclaimation of liquid waste, though.

I think crap's energy density is too low to actually power space ships, but reclaiming it for other uses seems likely.

I would prefer to put into use the awesome power of methane!!!!! uh....cow farts to be specific.

There seems to be plenty of it to go around, why not use it?

Much more efficient to recycle it for human consumption.
