Have you ever seen a Shoe Tree?

image

A Shoe tree, is a tree that has been festooned with old shoes. Shoe trees are generally located alongside a major local thoroughfare, and may have a theme (such as high-heeled shoes). There are currently at least seventy-six such shoe trees in the United States, and an undetermined number elsewhere

No never, in an odd sort of way that looks so beautiful, in a I'm too lazy to get rid my shoes so I'd ditch them in a tree so kids ask stupid questions sort of way.

I'm uncertain. My brother says he saw one when we were on our way to our aunt's one time.

No - but I read a book that revolved around one once.

No. However, when I was a teenager I went to a horseback riding camp in Wyoming. On an overnight trail ride, we stopped to camp at a spot with a big, bare, multi-pronged chunk of dead tree in the middle of it. We all stuck our boots on the defoliated branches and called it the Boot Tree. I have a picture somewhere. It's pretty funny.

No, and I hope I never do. Personally, I find it disgusting, and no amount of Pradas and Guccis could make me stomach the sight. It's just wrong.

I saw one only once in my whole life & that was last year on the way to Vegas. But, I hear that they now grow wild in Hawaii.

That reminds me of something I saw my neighbour doing yesterday. He'd been washing his car, and he was rinsing it off using a watering can. I happened to glance out of the window, and couldn't help but laugh, and then that set my Mum off laughing too and we had to go into another room in case he could hear us. I did wonder whether he'd get the last laugh though - but so far there are no signs of any car trees!

The Taxi-Driver's Daughter by Julia Darling. I think she was a British author, but I seem to recall the book having a very American feel to it. It wasn't great, but the shoe tree was very central to the plot.

I think I am looking at one right now.....

Other than that, no, but in Nebraska there is a fence with boots stuck on the posts. It's awesome and some of those boots have to be 50+ years old.
