| mrmarm | posted 20-Sep-2007 10:25pm No never, in an odd sort of way that looks so beautiful, in a I'm too lazy to get rid my shoes so I'd ditch them in a tree so kids ask stupid questions sort of way. |
| ausfox | posted 20-Sep-2007 10:28pm I haven't seen one, but I've heard of them and seen other pictures |
| Melf | posted 21-Sep-2007 4:33am I'm uncertain. My brother says he saw one when we were on our way to our aunt's one time. |
| bill | posted 21-Sep-2007 8:02am not, in person, but I've seen pictures... maybe I've seen this one, I'm not sure. |
| moviesnob | posted 21-Sep-2007 9:00am I didn't even know these existed. Interesting. |
| Biggles | posted 21-Sep-2007 10:42am No - but I read a book that revolved around one once. |
| Enheduanna | posted 21-Sep-2007 11:52am No. However, when I was a teenager I went to a horseback riding camp in Wyoming. On an overnight trail ride, we stopped to camp at a spot with a big, bare, multi-pronged chunk of dead tree in the middle of it. We all stuck our boots on the defoliated branches and called it the Boot Tree. I have a picture somewhere. It's pretty funny. |
| Iseult | posted 21-Sep-2007 12:45pm No, and I hope I never do. Personally, I find it disgusting, and no amount of Pradas and Guccis could make me stomach the sight. It's just wrong. |
| EyesOfCharisma | posted 21-Sep-2007 12:55pm No, I have not... I would really like to make one now, though. |
| Cleo | posted 21-Sep-2007 9:28pm I saw one only once in my whole life & that was last year on the way to Vegas. But, I hear that they now grow wild in Hawaii. |
| CarolL | posted 21-Sep-2007 9:58pm No but I've seen shoe power lines... |

I'm with you on that, sister. |

That reminds me of something I saw my neighbour doing yesterday. He'd been washing his car, and he was rinsing it off using a watering can. I happened to glance out of the window, and couldn't help but laugh, and then that set my Mum off laughing too and we had to go into another room in case he could hear us. I did wonder whether he'd get the last laugh though - but so far there are no signs of any car trees! |
| llamamama | posted 22-Sep-2007 3:00pm Nope. |
| MacGregor | posted 22-Sep-2007 6:40pm No, but that's pretty cool! |
| MacGregor | (reply to Biggles) posted 22-Sep-2007 6:41pm What book was that? |
| Biggles | (reply to MacGregor) posted 22-Sep-2007 8:28pm The Taxi-Driver's Daughter by Julia Darling. I think she was a British author, but I seem to recall the book having a very American feel to it. It wasn't great, but the shoe tree was very central to the plot. |
| MacGregor | (reply to Biggles) posted 22-Sep-2007 9:35pm Sounds interesting. Thanks |

| Cleo | (reply to Biggles) posted 23-Sep-2007 4:25pm Better yet if you see a money tree ..........tell me where it is so I can prune it. |
| Biggles | (reply to Cleo) posted 23-Sep-2007 5:25pm If I see a money tree, it will probably be growing pounds, not dollars! |

Other than that, no, but in Nebraska there is a fence with boots stuck on the posts. It's awesome and some of those boots have to be 50+ years old. |
