£40 ($80) for my first Converse. They were navy and are worn away all the way down the inside heel. My last, third pair of Converse (grey jersey with green piping) I bought for £35 just the other week. I also bought some leather shoes for £25 the weekend before last. They're these vintage leather brogues, gorgeous. I don't usually buy two pairs of expensive shoes in a short space of time... but I really needed them.

When I was 17 I spent $80 on a pair of sandals. I only wore them a few times because I didn't want to ruin something I'd spent that much money on. I didn't see the stupidity of that at the time...

Usually every time I buy a new pair of hiking boots it's either close to $200 or more.

Shoes that I own at this moment?

14.99 I think.... They are generic low-cut, converse-y type shoes. They are brown and pink. Got them at Target * love *

My boots cost 5.00 on ebay 8 years ago. My slip-ons cost 9.99. My flip-flops cost 9.99.

I have some dress shoes.... but I forget what I paid for them. I have worn them once. Actually, those might have cost around 20$....

My cowboy boots were probably the most expensive, although they were partly paid for by my parents as a birthday gift. I don't remember exactly how much they were, but I think it was around $150. The next most expensive was probably a pair of clogs that cost a little over $100, I think.

Never over $40.00 and certainly would never buy some expensive Nike sneakers or anything like that.

Personally, about £25 (about $50) - my mum bought me some walking boots about 6 years ago though which cost about £50. I can still wear them!

I think it's my last pair of boots I just bought in Paris for about 200Euros.

Actually, here they are - http://www.benetton.com/html/en/woman/footwear/05.... The ones in the middle, just black.

I haven't bought a pair od shoes that was under $100 for a long, long time (not counting flip flops).

Those are nice! I wish I could buy stuff like that, but my feet are way too big. Boots like that have always been a problem for me because I also have heavily muscled calves.

My feet don't require special shoes for medical reasons so I wouldn't be buying expensive shoes for that reason. I bought a pair of Naot sandals a few years back that were on sale but still pretty pricey.
Imelda Marcos I'm not.

Haven't been able to wear boots since my freshman year of high school... and those were winter boots that looked like regular boots, and didn't come up my leg very far. My sister is built differently than I am... she carries her weight in her torso and she has great legs. So she gets to wear the most awesome lace-up boots that are a cross between military and biker boots, they come up to her knees. She laughs when she wears them to church functions and has them covered by her pants legs.... kind of like wearing sexy underwear. She also has a pair of 'f^ck me' boots.

Can you wear boots that go up to the ankles? Those are getting very fashionable now.

Ugh... ankle boots remind me of capri pants.... they look like you couldn't afford the whole thing. * wink *

Capri pants come hand in the summer, especially for people like me who don't wear shorts.
cabinfever
(reply to Iseult) posted 16-Sep-2007 12:06am
I don't like shorts too far above my knee, but I wear what are commonly referred to as 'walking shorts', shorts that end just above the knee. I don't like capris because they are usually tapered and make your butt look wider, and they make you look shorter because they cut off your legs visually. But that is just my humble opinion.

They do make women look shorter (although I personnally don't mind that, being six feet tall).

 * laughing out loud * No, I guess you wouldn't mind. I'm not quite that tall, three inches shorter, but I still don't like capris... mostly because of the tapered leg thing... not only does it make your butt look bigger, but my calves are pretty muscular -always have been- and trying to get the tapered capris on in the first place would be a chore. They are cute as a bug's ear on my daughter, but I can't go there.
