Yes. The pronounciation is much harder at first; French flows much more easily; the grammar is more confusing; there are no tangible differences between der, die, and das unlike in French ('e's at the end of words and so on).

No language is easier or harder than any other, especially if you're lucky enough to be introduced to two or more languages as a baby or toddler. I think learning another language is especially difficult for adults.

My mother spoke German, Russian and English as well as her mother tongue. She told me German was similar to English but English was harder to learn because a lot of the rules didn't make sense.
I speak nothing but English (unfortunately).

Yes, at least it was for me. I think it has a much more complicated syntactic structure than Romance languages. Plus, it has things that English doesn't have, like case for nouns and adjectives.

I used to learn german, I guess it's easy considering there are complex languages such as chinese and the words aren't that beyond similiarity to english words.

No...it's not harder or easier. Some aspects of it are easier than say..spanish. But..unless you've taken German..you can't really judge. It wasn't that tough all things considered.

I've never had the opportunity to learn it, but I was under the impression that it was easier for English speakers to learn languages with a Germanic-base than the Romance languages, because the grammar is more similar, and many of the words sound very much the same. English has been hugely influenced by Norman French, but as I understand it, the root is essentially Germanic. But I've only ever studied French properly, so I really don't know * wry smile *

Oh, well..they do. Like, die ones usually end with an e..and I think der is usually r..or something..I was never good at grammar and my german teacher never knew how to explain it..(he was german..well, he still is)

I would assume it's easier because English has more in common with German than romance languages.

I don't think so - the origin of the language is the same as English while Spanish and French are of Latin origin.

I personally had an easier time with French. But I found German much easier to comprehend, while French I can barely catch few words if they're spoken on their own. I had no experience with Spanish.

How would I know? I took French in high school but remember none of it. Would think Russian would be harder than the others.

Well, since I've been slightly exposed to Spanish in school and a little at home because my mom's Puerto-Rican, and also because Spanish is easy to read for the most part, i would say Spanish is easier. I tried French once on a computer program at school, but the audio all sounded hard to say. A teacher of mine taught us some German, which is very close to English, but it has a few intimidating noises and that weird letter too, so I'm not sure. But I'd say Spanish.

Yes, it is. I grew up listening to it. I take the class and find out it had nothing to do with the 'slang' my mom grew up on. With bits of russian thrown in for good measure. I took two years and I still have no clue. It was very hard, but I have to say that my teacher kinda sucked at being a teacher. I hope she doesn't see this, she was really nice.

I don't know, since I haven't tried learning them ........... I have heard that "English" is pretty hard for people to learn because so many words sound the same, but are spelt differently and have different meanings and that one word can have loads of different meanings (Look up the word "set" in a dictionary)

I know a little German, and I think it's an easy language to learn. What the heck, in Germany even little toddlers are speaking German.
