Yes, I have heard "gay homosexual" in the context of a "happy homo" by a non-heterosexual man. |
Melf | | posted 20-Aug-2007 2:35am |
No, but I was once asked 'So are you gay or lesbian?' which confused me no end. |
| cabinfever | | posted 20-Aug-2007 3:23am |
I don't think so.... pretty redundant, almost to the point of being funny. Unless the person meant a happy homosexual. |

All lesbians are gay, but not all gays are lesbians, it that what you mean? |
| iamdonte | | posted 20-Aug-2007 4:25am |
Yep and I have heard them use the term lesbian woman. |

I don't think I've had the pleasure. |

Crayons | | posted 20-Aug-2007 2:49pm |
Meaning like, just for the joy of redundancy? Hmm. I can't say I've heard it, but many things close to it. |
cloudhugger | | posted 20-Aug-2007 3:09pm |
No. It's redundantly funny tho. |
| Richard47 | | posted 20-Aug-2007 3:10pm |
Sure, but not in a derogatory sense. It's like saying, " He's a gay'. It's cute. |
cloudhugger | | (reply to Melf) posted 20-Aug-2007 3:14pm |
When they talk of the gay community around the states, they refer to "the gays and lesbians". I think the men have cornered the "gay" word, while the women have the "lesbian" word. But in a whole, it is still the gay community. Another way the men have control. *sigh* It never ends.
Sort of like when I was at the Michigan Women's Music Festival, there was a very large tent with the sign "Women Of Colour Only". I thought that is just great, here we all are to support one another and there is a group that is segregating.
Nobody really knows what they are talking about. |
cloudhugger |
It sounds kinda gay. |
Enheduanna |
It does. I think it would be very entertaining to hear someone use the phrase. |
| llamamama | | posted 20-Aug-2007 3:43pm |
No..it's kind of redundant isn't it? Or..is that like saying..you're straight because they cancel out? It's not..but..think about it. |

With a straight face |
Galomorro | | posted 20-Aug-2007 4:43pm |
No but I've heard people say "Gay and Lesbian" a lot. |
Enheduanna |
Exactly. |

When they were pretending to be Cartman from South Park, but not otherwise. |
cloudhugger |
Can you say "Gay" without smiling?
I didn't think so. |
| mrmarm | | posted 21-Aug-2007 2:01am |
Probably in a lame attempt to be funny, I live the country so I'm not surprised with all the stupid stuff people say and do. |
| judgescratch | | posted 21-Aug-2007 9:20am |
The redundancy school of redundancy. |

"That dog is a gay homosexual!" |

| BenSimpleton72 | | posted 8-Oct-2007 10:11pm |
Yes and I use the term myself. Especially when talking to my best pal. He thinks it's funny, and yes he is gay. You don't even want to know what he calls me. |
