| mrmarm | posted 8-Aug-2007 8:51pm Not neccarsilarily, what if they were blind or deaf or something. |
| gambler | posted 8-Aug-2007 9:05pm Yes |
| ausfox | posted 8-Aug-2007 9:24pm I don't know that they 'deserved' it, but they had it coming |
| llamamama | posted 8-Aug-2007 10:25pm They didn't deserve it..but..they had it coming. |
| ultamate | posted 8-Aug-2007 11:24pm If they are warned of danger and took the chance anyway, then I'd say they kind of asked for it but I don't know about deserving it. |
| southernyankee | posted 8-Aug-2007 11:37pm Its tempting to say yes, but no. |

| Richard47 | (reply to LindaH) posted 9-Aug-2007 12:57am > It is a good thing that you are adorable!!! |
| darkshadowsseeker | (reply to LindaH) posted 9-Aug-2007 1:02am Would you honestly say that a young child, or someone who had a mental or physical disability (blind, deaf, developmentally disabled, etc.) would "have it coming"? |
| LindaH | (reply to darkshadowsseeker) posted 9-Aug-2007 1:09am I should have provided a better explanation. Like: You know the person, so you know they aren't disabled. |
| darkshadowsseeker | (reply to LindaH) posted 9-Aug-2007 1:16am I still don't think anyone would "have it coming". |
| LindaH | (reply to darkshadowsseeker) posted 9-Aug-2007 1:24am I would think that a person creating a physical obstacle to someone else getting things done is putting them in a position to either stop working or risk accidentally hurting them. If you have stuff to do, and someone won't get out of your way after asking them to move I would think they can only expect to be bumped, especially if you are moving large, awkward things around, and they are right up in the middle of what you are doing. |
| cabinfever | posted 9-Aug-2007 3:50am I don't know about 'deserve', but they sure had it coming to them. When my kid does this and gets knocked into, I say, "No whining, you were told. Now please move!"
Looked up the definition of 'deserve' on Dictionary.com.... and I have to say, it pretty much fits this scenario. |
| cabinfever | posted 9-Aug-2007 3:52am For once, I have to agree with Linda on her last post. |
| Biggles | posted 9-Aug-2007 6:37am "Deserve" is the wrong word. They were partly culpable in their own accident, but I don't think that means they "deserved" to be injured. |
| mrmarm | (reply to ausfox) posted 9-Aug-2007 6:39am What if the y were old and senile or deaf or something. |
| ausfox | posted 9-Aug-2007 7:26am Well I was just assuming that they weren't |
| mrmarm | (reply to ausfox) posted 9-Aug-2007 7:38am Okay, hey don't you live in Australia too? |
| CarolL | posted 9-Aug-2007 9:22am Deserve, no. This sounds like a child who did not understand that the warnings they were getting were from the voice of experience. Depending on the age of (assumed) child, s/he should have been given something else to do or the moving of boxes should have been done while someone else was caring for him away from the danger zone.

| EyesOfCharisma | posted 9-Aug-2007 11:30am I put 'I don't know' I guess it depends, If it is a child walking around in the room, and you injure them, I would think it is your fault as a parent to protect them.. If you really need them out of the room, and they aren't listening...walk their little asses to their room. If it is an adult getting in your way, and they get injured, I would probably say, that's what you get, I told you to move fudgeer. |
| Enheduanna | posted 9-Aug-2007 11:56am Other: who cares? This must be another LindaH survey, which means the injured person is either your husband or one of your children. Does it really matter whose fault it was or whether someone got what they deserved? If they're not happy with what happened, tell them to leave the room when you tell them to next time, and otherwise, kiss the boo-boo and tell them to either lend a hand or get the hell out of the way until you're done. |
| jettles | posted 9-Aug-2007 12:18pm deserve it? no but they should realize after all of that that they were highly likely to be injured! |
| Jody | posted 9-Aug-2007 1:54pm I can think of few, if any, situations where people "deserve" to be injured, but I suspect this person could hardly blame the movers if they were warned and disregarded the warnings. |
| Irene007 | posted 9-Aug-2007 2:47pm No one deserves to be injured but they deserve a good "I told you so!" if they do! |
| LindaH | posted 9-Aug-2007 2:59pm Regarding the word 'deserves': I think it's a matter of semantics, like "That's what you get" vs "That's what happens" |
| ausfox | posted 9-Aug-2007 4:46pm Yep. You too huh? |
| RGirl | posted 9-Aug-2007 5:10pm They didn't deserve to get injured but they certainly shouldn't be surprised when it happens and it is their own fault. |
| Crayons | posted 9-Aug-2007 5:47pm i am usually vengeful, but i don't hold grudges long. Though, it might depend on who they are. |
| mrmarm | (reply to ausfox) posted 9-Aug-2007 7:49pm I live around Brisbane you? |
| ausfox | posted 9-Aug-2007 8:22pm I'm in Melbourne. I used to live in Brisbane though, I love it up there |
| mrmarm | (reply to ausfox) posted 9-Aug-2007 8:23pm What's it like in Melbourne I hear it's very cold. |
| ausfox | posted 9-Aug-2007 8:24pm Melbourne's great, lots to do, but yeah very cold! |
| mrmarm | (reply to ausfox) posted 10-Aug-2007 1:59am It sounds like the opposite of where I live, if you've ever heard of Laidley. |
| thecomic22 | posted 10-Aug-2007 1:11pm That kinda depends. |
| Richard47 | (reply to LindaH) posted 10-Aug-2007 3:28pm It is a good thing that you are adorable...............chol???? |
| LindaH | (reply to Richard47) posted 10-Aug-2007 3:58pm I don't really know much about chol at all, just that whoever it is made a survey I liked. |
| Cleo | posted 11-Aug-2007 5:45am If they have the following, mental or physical disability (blind, deaf, developmentally disabled, etc.) Then of course not!
But, if they're perfectly healthy & are just there annoying the crap out of you while your trying to accomplish something...... Calmly put your stuff down walk over to them & SCREAM in their ear, "Move it before I run your ass over!" THEN if they don't move they had it coming |
| Zang | posted 12-Aug-2007 12:28pm This has "Linda" written all over it. |
| Amanda | posted 13-Aug-2007 2:44pm I don't think anyone deserves to get injured. |
| moviesnob | posted 10-Sep-2007 1:39pm No, but it's their own fault. |
| Enigma | posted 26-Sep-2007 2:03pm If it were my brother, yes. Anyone else, maybe. |
