If this person accidentally gets injured, did they "have it coming"?

You are busy moving large heavy things. Someone is walking around in the way. You repeatedly tell them to get out of the way, but they remain in the room, walk in front of you, and get knocked into and injured. Did they deserve to get injured?

They didn't deserve it..but..they had it coming.

If they are warned of danger and took the chance anyway, then I'd say they kind of asked for it but I don't know about deserving it.

Would you honestly say that a young child, or someone who had a mental or physical disability (blind, deaf, developmentally disabled, etc.) would "have it coming"?

I should have provided a better explanation. Like: You know the person, so you know they aren't disabled.

I still don't think anyone would "have it coming".

I would think that a person creating a physical obstacle to someone else getting things done is putting them in a position to either stop working or risk accidentally hurting them. If you have stuff to do, and someone won't get out of your way after asking them to move I would think they can only expect to be bumped, especially if you are moving large, awkward things around, and they are right up in the middle of what you are doing.

I don't know about 'deserve', but they sure had it coming to them. When my kid does this and gets knocked into, I say, "No whining, you were told. Now please move!"

Looked up the definition of 'deserve' on Dictionary.com.... and I have to say, it pretty much fits this scenario.

"Deserve" is the wrong word. They were partly culpable in their own accident, but I don't think that means they "deserved" to be injured.

Deserve, no. This sounds like a child who did not understand that the warnings they were getting were from the voice of experience. Depending on the age of (assumed) child, s/he should have been given something else to do or the moving of boxes should have been done while someone else was caring for him away from the danger zone.

I put 'I don't know' I guess it depends, If it is a child walking around in the room, and you injure them, I would think it is your fault as a parent to protect them.. If you really need them out of the room, and they aren't listening...walk their little asses to their room. If it is an adult getting in your way, and they get injured, I would probably say, that's what you get, I told you to move fudgeer.

Other: who cares? This must be another LindaH survey, which means the injured person is either your husband or one of your children. Does it really matter whose fault it was or whether someone got what they deserved? If they're not happy with what happened, tell them to leave the room when you tell them to next time, and otherwise, kiss the boo-boo and tell them to either lend a hand or get the hell out of the way until you're done.

deserve it? no but they should realize after all of that that they were highly likely to be injured!

I can think of few, if any, situations where people "deserve" to be injured, but I suspect this person could hardly blame the movers if they were warned and disregarded the warnings.

No one deserves to be injured but they deserve a good "I told you so!" if they do!

Regarding the word 'deserves': I think it's a matter of semantics, like "That's what you get" vs "That's what happens"

They didn't deserve to get injured but they certainly shouldn't be surprised when it happens and it is their own fault.

If they have the following, mental or physical disability (blind, deaf, developmentally disabled, etc.) Then of course not!

But, if they're perfectly healthy & are just there annoying the crap out of you while your trying to accomplish something......

Calmly put your stuff down walk over to them & SCREAM in their ear, "Move it before I run your ass over!" THEN if they don't move they had it coming
