I wish this (non-family member) person (or entity) had lived (or existed) longer:

The assumption is that they have died or no longer exist.
Family is excluded for this survey.
It could be a famous person or a beloved other or a band or something else.

In the early seventies I was working with an intelligence analyst in Rhodesia, we got shot down and she was killed in the crash.

In the mid eighties I met a woman, I taught her to drive truck and we ran team for a few years, then we went partners on a helicopter, we bought a trainer and put it in a lease back program at a helicopter school, she got her rateing in helicopter, we leased a Bell 206B Jetranger and started our helicopter service. In 1992 she got hit by an airplane and crashed short of the airport.

In November of 2000 I lost my best friend to Pancreatic cancer.

The Bible would've shaken out interestingly differently had Jesus lived longer...

I can only imagine. Since he was a hippie of his day, had he lived any longer, he might have turned into the Roman equivalent of a yuppie Republican.

First, Carmen Miranda (she died in the 1950s) -- a singer, dancer, and actress in musicals mainly from the 1940s. She was born in Portugal but grew up in Rio de Janeiro, Brasil.
Second, Jerry Garcia of the Grateful Dead.
Third, Timothy Leary.

I wish Paul Hammond Jr. lived after he was delivered to the ER. Had we held on to him and continued to treat him ourselves he would have lived. We didn't expect the civilian medical doctor to mistreat him so bad that my medics in the field with would have been the wiser choice to proctor his recovery. I failed his wife, parents and the Marines and I wished he lived.

So, if you don't mind... what happened and when? If it's too sore of a subject, I understand.

Dean Martin - so he could have recorded more songs
Marlyn Monroe - so I could see her grow old
Elvis Presley - so I wouldn't have to be subject to the cultish marketing of his name and countless imitations of him
Mordecai Richler - so I could have had a drink of whiskey and talk politics with him
