I had 2 surgeries on my right knee
I had my nose broken, and they had to put me in a operating room, and re-break it, I dont know if that is a surgery though.
Had my tubes tied

Oral surgery if that counts. And surgery to remove skin cancer |
| thecomic22 | | posted 19-Jul-2007 4:44pm |
Naw not that I can really remember. Well, actually I broke my arm when I was a year old & I almost cut my right pink toe off & they had to re-sew it back. Dont know if thoes really count though. |

Yes. Tonsils, oral surgery (where they ended up breaking my jaw), c-section, put a pin in my ankle. I've also had some kidney stuff done...lithotripsy or however it's spelled...a couple of times. I don't think that's really considered surgery, but my insurance classifies it that way. I feel like I'm forgetting something??? |

Microvascular Decompression of the Left Trigeminal Nerve, Laser ablation of the cervix, removal of teeth that you get as a teen, forgot what they are called. |
| filiasan | | posted 19-Jul-2007 8:03pm |
More than once, I've had oral surgery. Yes, my teeth were pretty bad! |
| smurf | | posted 19-Jul-2007 8:30pm |
Yup, but pretty minor. 2 wisdom teeth out [at the same time - bigger job than usual apparently] and I had a carpal tunnel release on both wrists. Kinda difficult living without the use of both hands for a couple of weeks! |
| mrmarm | | posted 19-Jul-2007 8:57pm |
Not really but I did get my tonsils out. |
| llamamama | | posted 19-Jul-2007 9:52pm |
I had an appendectomy...that's about it. Did get a butt load of stitches for other things..but I don't think that counts. |
LJD | | posted 19-Jul-2007 10:02pm |
Tonsils, appendectomy (without my knowledge), hysterectomy, bladder uplift, vein stripping |
LindaH | | posted 19-Jul-2007 10:12pm |
A few. When I went under for eye surgery, I don't know what they gave me, but I had a dream I was flying. |
Iseult | | posted 19-Jul-2007 11:02pm |
Yes. Hernia and my tonsils taken out. |
| cabinfever | | posted 20-Jul-2007 12:37am |
I don't know if this was considered a surgery, but... I had a mole removed a few months ago. It did require cutting open my skin and digging it out, then stitches. If it does count, it's very minor. I also had oral surgery... one time on one wisdom tooth (they had to break it to get it out) and another time where they dug out the remaining three wisdom teeth. |
CarolL | | posted 20-Jul-2007 12:43am |
Yep.
1. Tonsils out when I was four.
2. Reattachment of my wrist tendon when I tried to be stupid in my early twenties
3. C-section at 31
4. C-section + tubes tied at 34
5. Craniotomy for brain aneurysm at 38 (i think)-12 hour surgery.
6. 2x removal of tissue from my arm - not really surgery, though, done in my Doc's office.
That's it, I think. Oh, no.
7. Removal of all four wisdom teeth under general anaesthetic when I was 22.
Okay, that's it.
I'm healthy, though, really. |

I've had oral surgery because of an impacted tooth. |
LindaH | | posted 20-Jul-2007 1:21am |
Mine were eye surgery (where i had the weird dream), tooth extraction, stomach surgery, scar removal. That's all I know of. Scar removal didn't work and I had to have cortisone injections, which hurt like... something. |

Age 10: Surgery on knee after bike/car accident - one scar
Age 23: C-section - one scar
Age 27: percutaneous nephrolithotomy - 2 scars on my back (one for the camera, one for the surgery)
The surgeon who did this last one accidentally stuck a needle into my chest cavity, through my diaphragm, and into my liver. My liver leaked bile into my chest. When I was howling in pain, the nurses gave me Benadryl to knock me out, the doctors told me I was having panic attacks, and then they discharged me with a fever and unable to walk. A week later I was in ICU. This led to the next surgery for correction.
Age 27: Thorocotomy - 2 scars on my back (one 8-9 incher, and one small from the chest tube) |
bill | | posted 20-Jul-2007 8:26am |
minor: Oral (wisdom teeth), deviated septum (nose), chalazion (eye)
major: 2 bowel-resections (over 10 years apart, removed diseased sections of my intestines, plus some other parts) |
they | | posted 20-Jul-2007 8:41am |
Oh yeah.... removal of 3 wisdom teeth... but I didn't really think of it was surgery because I didn't get knocked out.
My insurance doesn't cover anesthesia for wisdom teeth... so I had it done with novocaine only. He was supposed to remove 4, but he had such a hard time with the first three, I think he got nervous and backed out. |

Yes. I wanted to be short so I had a portion of my very long femur bone removed in each leg. |
| Biggles | | posted 20-Jul-2007 10:25am |
No, I don't think so. I had a broken arm fixed, but not invasively. I also had osteomyelitis as a baby which is often treated surgically, but I think mine cleared up just with a long course of antibiotics - I don't seem to be missing part of my leg, anyway. I've seen people lose limbs to it in work - nasty. |

I had a bullet removed from my right thigh, but it was in the field, not what I would call surgery, I've never been admitted to hospital, just a few stitches here and there, had a flake of steel removed from my eye. Never broken a bone. |

Nearly had my leg amputated at the hip at the age of 18. Other than that, just moles removed surgically. |

When I was 3 or 4 I had an operation to remove two little lumps from my neck. All I remember about it is going to the hospital having to change into a hospital gown and having two blood tests done (because they didn't take enough blood the first time). I also remember a nurse taking me into the operating room and telling me to lie down on the operating table. Then I remember going to sleep, the next thing after that I remember is waking up and trying to sit up and the nurse and my mum telling me not to because they will raise the bed for me. Then I put my clothes back on and went home. |

paulyw | | (reply to Strider) posted 10-Aug-2007 11:19pm |
That surgery was for a hernia I think.. I was born with one of my testicles in my stomach, and I had surgery to bring it down to my scrotum. This was back in 1978, and back then, I was in the hospital for a whole week to recover. The bad thing was when they try to use the medicine to make me sleepy. it made me more hyper, because when I was a kid I had ADD/ADHD. I woke up a little too soon, and it was a scary expierence. |
