| RGirl | posted 15-Jul-2007 9:47pm No, I don't put credence in it. My second toe is smaller than my big toe. I don't know if my biological father is alive so I have no way of knowing who will/has died first. |
| romkey | posted 15-Jul-2007 9:52pm No. There's no reasonable mechanism by which it could work.
It's got a 50% chance of being right. So... it's no big deal if it does match what happens... half the time it won't. It's just not your half the time. |
| ausfox | posted 15-Jul-2007 10:27pm I've never heard this. |
| cloudhugger | posted 16-Jul-2007 12:49am My second toe is not bigger than the first, and my father died first. I have never heard this, but I would be willing to research this for a proper fee. I'll give you my paypal account #. |
| cabinfever | posted 16-Jul-2007 1:19am No, I don't. The old wives' tale around these here parts is that a longer second toe means you're smart.
Oh, and my second toe is about the same length as my big toe, especially on my right foot. |
| icurok | posted 16-Jul-2007 7:11am Superstitious bullcrap. |
| they | posted 16-Jul-2007 7:48am Both of my parents are alive.... and my second toe is SLIGHTLY longer. |
| CynShar | posted 16-Jul-2007 7:59am I've never heard of it before |
| Iseult | posted 16-Jul-2007 10:38am No. It's a coincidence that such remark was made in your presence, that you took so much care to remember it, and later on that your mother died before your father. |
| Enheduanna | posted 16-Jul-2007 11:31am No. My second toe is shorter than my first, but from my observations of other people's toes, I have noted that it is much more likely that the second toe will be longer (which I assume is what you mean by "bigger," as it would be fudging weird if someone's second toe was actually larger all around than their big toe). Anyway, both my parents are still alive, so I'm no help statistically here, but from the aforementioned observations, I would say that the number of longer second toes is too high for this to be true, especially as women tend to have longer lifespans that men. Sounds like an old wives' tale to me. |
| bill | posted 16-Jul-2007 11:46am 50-50 chance to get this right, so it's not that impressive... |
| icurok | posted 16-Jul-2007 11:56am Surprised no one has mentioned this yet but...
What if you have a brother or sister whose first toe is bigger than their second? |
| Jody | posted 16-Jul-2007 12:42pm I was talking with a neighbor recently and she heard that having the second toe longer than the first was a sign of royalty. |
| EyesOfCharisma | posted 16-Jul-2007 12:57pm I have never heard of this, but my second toe IS bigger... So I guess I will let ya know |
| Melf | (reply to icurok) posted 16-Jul-2007 1:29pm That means one of the two is adopted. No exceptions. |
| icurok | (reply to Melf) posted 16-Jul-2007 1:33pm Ah yes, silly me for neglecting to take into account that obvious and easily explainable contingency. I'm converted. |

| thecomic22 | posted 16-Jul-2007 2:57pm Nah, I dont beleive in toe. |
| Melf | posted 16-Jul-2007 3:04pm When I see this survey, I always think: wait a minute, when was the first toe question? |
| Amanda | (reply to Melf) posted 16-Jul-2007 3:39pm That was my first thought when I saw this survey for the first time. I thought I'd missed something, until I clicked on it and saw what it was about. |
| Melf | (reply to Amanda) posted 16-Jul-2007 3:51pm Hehe, now I want to think of a real first toe question. |
| mrmarm | posted 17-Jul-2007 12:27am No I seriously doubt it, apparently it's genetic. |
| mve17 | posted 17-Jul-2007 5:50am My second toe is smaller than my first.. according to shallow hal it's not good to have a big second toe.. |
| ultamate | posted 17-Jul-2007 6:13pm My mother died before my Dad and my (nor my brother or sister) second toe is not bigger than the first. I have a split between my front teeth and have been told I'm either a good singer or a good liar... I really suck at both. I did have one girl who also had a split between her teeth tell me it meant I was good in bed .... I never heard that....I think she just wanted us to find out together. |
| Wackadoo | posted 18-Jul-2007 4:19pm My second toe is not bigger than my first toe. It may be a smidge longer than my first toe, however. And my mother passed away two years ago ... I still have my daddy. I don't think it has anything to do with the size or length of my toes. |
| Cricket17 | posted 14-Jul-2009 7:29pm The nail salon where I have my pedicures done is run by a family from Vietnam the man passed by and looking at my feet said "your father passed away along time before your mom" I said well that would be correct considering my Mom was still alive and my father had passed when I was 15. He explained in his Country that they believe the big toe is the Momma toe and the 2nd toe is the Daddy toe and which ever is the longest is who dies first...trust me I came home and checked all my kids toes and they were all right...their 2nd toes are longer(and both of my husbands are deceased) so that was true. My Mom passed a few years ago so there is over 30 years between the deaths of my parents and he said that is why my 2nd toe is so much longer...the closer they are together means their deaths are closer. He said that 95% of the time it is correct and if not it is usually someone who was adopted or unsure of the biological father. Based on the response to your survey it sounds like you just have the toes backwards! |
