Guess what town this is.

Clues:
My paternal grandmother was born there.
It's in the U.S. midwest.
It has the widest main street in the U.S. (75 feet wide).
This town was the site of a POW camp for captured German soldiers, sometime between 1944 and 1946.
The Eskimo Pie was invented in this town in 1920 and was originally sold under the name "I-Scream Bars". image

No I didn't. Nowhere in this survey does it say that the use of Google is cheating.

You're correct. I deliberately left out asking people to guess & not Google. I was more interested in finding out how fast you guys could find out the answer using a search engine, so I purposely put in a couple of clues that I knew would help.

Your grandmother's birthplace is no valid clue.
Answer is on Wikipedia as any half-brained person can figure out. Not gonna go back there to look it up again.

I figured either that or the Eskimo Pie clue would work.

I threw the "grandmother" one in as a ringer, even though she was born in Onawa, Iowa.

No, I cannot.

And since I don't know who you are, your first clue is not very helpful (not that it would be even if I knew who you were). Actually, the only hint that's of any help to me is the second one since I don't keep track of street width records in the US (nor anywhere else for that matter), I don't know what POW camp is, nor do I know anything about any kind of ice cream other than I like to eat it.
