Everything about me is cool. I've got to be the coolest person I know! I even ooze cool out of my pores. I'm just that good.
Just don't ask my kid this question because he thinks I'm anti-cool. |

I could name every band in last week's Observer Music Monthly |

OK... Fudge humility! I'm cool! In fact, I'll be known as Nonna Kool to my grandson. (Nonna - Italian for grandmother) Since the father's mom is already known as Nonna; he added the Kool to mine so the kids won't get confused! |

My kids think I'm cool! Although my "coolness" embarrasses them at times; many of their friends like to hang out with me!! They secretly envy them because their parents are so anal! |

Somewhat cool, and #3 |

I think the geeky things about me are pretty cool, personally. I guess that's what makes me a geek!
I do tend to handle myself well in various situations, although certainly not in all of them. I think I have a decent sense of style. I am sure there are people out there who think I'm not cool, but screw 'em. |

Other. I am the epitome of cool. In some ways. I'll break it down because I'm cool like that...
1) I some what know how to behave, that one is kind of a crapshoot.
2) Fashionably...hmmm...let's just say that I am a trend setter. I find that what I find comfortable, or 'cool' is the next fashion statement alothough I have cooly moved to the next level.
3) I am not upset by normal standards of which others may flip out.
A recent event to supplement my statement. "A few days (imagine this is my voice...) ago I was at a K Mart in Michigan. I only had a few items so I didn't have a cart. I stopped at a clearance rack and was on my knees checking out some clearance items. Out of the corner of my eye I seen a cart coming down the aisle, but I didn't really think much about it. Suddenly BAM! This woman clocked me hard into my side and I sailed sideways till I ended up on my back. I lay there on the floor doing a quick body scan to see if anything was hurt or bleeding...nothing. There is the woman, a K Mart employee, smiling saying "I didn't see you!" "Are you OK? Can I help you up?"
I could see that she was not 100%, maybe somewhat sort of retarded in some ways. I looked at her and my mind was whirring in what to do next. I remember thinking immediately about how hard it would be on this woman to get fired and find a new job. She was in her late 50's and not all together if you know what I mean. I said I was fine and if she could get me a price check on one of the items that flew with me. I'm sitting on the floor holding this item up. As I said it, I saw the price tag and said "Oh, I couldn't find the price, but after you knocked me on the floor and I'm holding this up, now I can see the price tag. Thank you so much"
She just beamed that she could help me in some way. It was that response of hers that assured me the woman ain't right and I would be so I decided to just go on my merry way. I was actually surprised at myself for not getting angry or scared...although my knees were shaking from the blow, and I didn't feel all that good, I knew I would be seeing the chiropractor within a few days anyway.
And...
4) I don't know about the popular thing...I'm not sure I want to be poplular. Popular is as popular does and most of that isn't that cool anyway. |

That's cool! I could make a giant list of things other people have done, where most people would have gotten upset, or at least said something, and I didn't bother with it. It's in my nature! I've been on the receiving end of confrontation and catching other people's grief to know that no one needs it, it doesn't do anyone any good to make an issue of some things. |

The older I get, the cooler I think my dad is. He'll be 53 in August, but he asks more like someone my age than his age. When I was growing up, I never realized his coolness potential. My friends always wanted to hang out at my house, because they realized my parents were cool long before I did. So, hopefully, when Caleb gets older, he'll realize that I'm the coolest of the cool. |
| Amanda |
Of course! I do have THE coolest aunt ever. I've even got the picture to prove it. |

Yay!
You calling me Manda reminds me of my oldest brother. I don't think he has ever put an A at the beginning of my name. |

It's going to happen; you'll see! He's just too young now... My kids, when younger, used to warn their friends about us before they brought them home. Ben was such a tease; kids didn't what to make of him! |

and sometimes, it's fear, and sometimes, people just think it's their civic duty, lots of different reasons. |
cloudhugger | | (reply to LindaH) posted 2-Jul-2007 1:45am |
Fear is a good one. |
LindaH |
I have thought about it. Some people fear that if we let people get away with stuff, society will go to ruin. Or they are afraid of what someone might do next. Or they do it to 'save face' (like you said, ego). They don't want to be seen walking away from a slight. They have to protect their own dignity. Sometimes people use revenge for that, too. |
cloudhugger | | (reply to LindaH) posted 2-Jul-2007 1:57am |
You know what the bizarrest thing about the K Mart episod was? No one witnessed the episode. I'm really glad it seemed like we were the only two people in the whole universe at the time. If someone saw what had happened, who knows what harm may have occured. It's like the child that does not want to tell mom they hurt themself because mom would totally over react. than everyone involved would have been affected probably negatively. |
LindaH |
That's true! Busybodies can sometimes make situations worse by trying to make them better. Yelling at someone to "mellow out" when they are only mildly irritated comes to mind. Making a big fuss over someone who fell, I can see how that would create a big mess (crowds, obstructions, potential embarrassment). And then there's the possibility that bystanders can ruin a situation that someone directly involved is successfully 'steering' (psychologically) with control and care. |
| RGirl |
That should read "You are just SO cool it is disgusting!" A good thing. |

Yup. I think the universe has a much bigger plan for me than ruining some crazy lady's life. I just pray that she learned her lesson on me rather than some child or old person. I am happy to take the bowling over for her to learn her lesson. |

The fact I think fun is more important than correcting people's minor, harmless obliviousness.
The fact I feel no need to 'call em on it'
Too bad some people can't do the same for me. |
