Yes, in some areas. They are illegal in Anchorage, but legal in the Mat-Su Valley. You can't even buy them in Anchorage. People buy them in Big Lake and bring them back to town, though.

I don't think they're legal for just anyone to use--too dangerous in a state with a serious wildfire season. But certain people (or businesses doing shows for cities, I guess) can get permits for fireworks displays, and they're pretty popular on the 4th of July.

Yeah, all kinds. I think the age restriction is 18. We don't celebrate July 4th, and I wouldn't be surprised if certain types got banned or the age was risen because there is always trouble around bonfire night with thick teenagers throwing them about.

They're illegal in the city limits unless you've got a permit. It's legal to do them at my house, though, because we live in the county. The fireworks stands have to be outside city limits, but of course people in the city buy them. No one ever gets in trouble for doing them in the city unless some accident happens or people complain.

No, just in official fireworks shows--not for individual use.

They are in some areas and it's too bad there is not a time limit in which they must stop shooting the damn things!! People in my area will shoot them for a week before, to a week after the 4th. On the 4th you can expect to hear them going off till 2 am or later.

One year I had a bag full of fireworks confiscated by the police. I was so angry. I said, 'If I can't shoot them here we'll go where we can.' but they wouldn't leave them with me. I bet you a fist full of money they took those fireworks home to their kids. Pissed me off, wasted my money too. But here they are ok. *smile*

Yes they are and we just today celebrated Canada Day. Whoops, make that yesterday since it's well after midnight. We went to a friends house and he put off a whack of fireworks in his backyard. They were great!

Non-exploding kind are legal in my county. Next county over no fireworks are legal. Depends on individual towns too. Of course lot's of people have exploding ones, legal or not. In my town it's a $500 fine if you get caught lighting firecrackers, M-80's, etc.

Yes, but I have a feeling that their sale is restricted to certain times of the year - like the days around New Year's Eve, the Chinese New Year and Bonfire Night. I didn't pay too much attention - but I'm pretty sure a UK-wide law was passed on that a few years ago. Oh, I think there are restrictions on the times that they can be let off as well - before 11pm most of the year, but extended for traditional fireworks periods.

um...... We shot them off anyway. Some little low flying Cessna flew right into the path of our fireballs. I'm guessing he had to make an emergency stop to change his pants.

Guess what we did last night? We had a big party at the deer camp. (Yeah, we do redneck stuff like that.) There were about $400 worth of fireworks.....all courtesy of some kids. My brother, who's a cop, had confiscated them. In the past, we've had parties where all the alcohol was courtesy of kids. Anyhow, as soon as we got there and he told me where the fireworks came from, I thought of you!

I don't know what the laws are. I think they are more strict than they were when I was a child. We used to be able to buy any kind of fireworks and firecrackers at the corner store when I was a child. That doesn't seem to be the case any more. The stuff still exists. I live in Chinatown, and of course firecrackers are used here very frequently for various cultural rituals and such. Fireworks are used frequently for a variety of celebrations; Canada Day, Halloween, New Years etc. One of my friends buys them. I haven't bought any of that sort of stuff since I was a child.

No, all you can get here in Ohio are the sparklers and smoke bomb type things...

You have to drive over to Indiana to get the good stuff. The police don't typically enforce the laws about it though on the 4th... people set off fireworks in the streets here.
