| bill | posted 15-Jun-2007 9:22am It doesn't taste soapy to me, I just don't like that taste of it very much. But, I will usually still eat suff that has cilantro in it, unless there's a lot of it. |
| TeddyMiller | posted 15-Jun-2007 10:07am A friend once gave my family a casserole made with cilantro, and we all thought it tasted like soap. |
| mve17 | posted 15-Jun-2007 10:16am I like Clint I do |
| gsummers | posted 15-Jun-2007 10:18am Yes, especially in Salsa.. Is Cilantro -Coriander too? but just different names? Im not sure why I thought that... |
| Wackadoo | posted 15-Jun-2007 10:50am Sure do! It's a necessity when making homemade salsa! |
| they | posted 15-Jun-2007 10:52am I agree with the people on the link.
It tastes metallic and soapy. I didn't even realize it until we went to a local mexican restaurant that used it in their salsa. Ben pointed out what the taste was... but he likes it. |

| EyesOfCharisma | posted 15-Jun-2007 11:20am I don't know if I like it or not, I think I have had food with it in it.... But I do not remember hating that taste of it, I dunno... I can't believe that there is such a hate for it though, that someone would need to make a web site about it |
| Galomorro | posted 15-Jun-2007 11:53am Yes, I love the stuff! |
| Enheduanna | posted 15-Jun-2007 12:01pm Yes; it's not my favorite and I don't like it just straight, but I do like it in a lot of dishes. |
| cerealkiller | posted 15-Jun-2007 12:21pm Not really. Tastes like soap. |
| Amanda | posted 15-Jun-2007 12:48pm It's not a favorite, but I don't totally hate it. |
| RGirl | posted 15-Jun-2007 3:20pm I don't know. I don't know if I've had it. I don't use to cook. |
| romkey | posted 15-Jun-2007 4:39pm ilovecilantro.com
But I used to dislike it. It tasted soapy and metallic to me but now it tastes great... I'd always heard that the way it tasted was determined by genetics, if so I guess I mutated. In the last year or so I've come to really appreciate it, and I use it a lot in cooking. |
| filiasan | posted 15-Jun-2007 4:56pm I've come to like it. Before I turned 25, I hated the stuff. |
| Iseult | posted 15-Jun-2007 5:12pm I cannot recall what cilantro tastes like. However, according to this one site it tastes like a mix of parsley and citrus, and I like both (in fact, I'll eat parsley on its own), so I imagine cilantro can't be that bad. |
| docgbrown | posted 15-Jun-2007 5:44pm Take it or leave it. I almost never use it in cooking. |

| SueBee | (reply to gsummers) posted 15-Jun-2007 8:15pm > Yes, especially in Salsa.. Is Cilantro -Coriander too? but just different
> names? Im not sure why I thought that... I thought coriander was the name for the seeds, and cilantro was the leaves, but I'm not sure if that's true. |
| Otter | posted 15-Jun-2007 8:30pm Never heard of it |
| JessicaWoman99 | posted 15-Jun-2007 8:50pm Yuck forget it |
| cloudhugger | posted 16-Jun-2007 12:23am Other. I looooove cilantro. I could eat a fresh cilantro sandwich I love it so much. My Mary hates it...but she'll come around. |
| cloudhugger | Yes. coriander is the seeds, cilantro is the leaves. Also known as Chinese Parsley. |
| cabinfever | posted 16-Jun-2007 2:05am I like it fine. Most times I prefer it in moderation, not piled on like some of the ptomaine wagons do it. |
| cabinfever | (reply to cloudhugger) posted 16-Jun-2007 2:07am Wow, Cloudy... learn something new every day. Coriander tastes so much different from cilantro. |
| cloudhugger | (reply to cabinfever) posted 16-Jun-2007 9:20am Yeah, I know...coriander doesn't do it for me. |
| SueBee | (reply to cloudhugger) posted 17-Jun-2007 3:24pm Thanks for the info! I don't think I've ever heard it called Chinese parsley before. That's weird, because I don't think of that flavor in Chinese cooking, but I probably don't have a very wide knowledge of Chinese food. I tend to stick with a few restaurant favorites that are surely Americanized. |
| babb001 | posted 17-Jun-2007 9:34pm I love cilantro and could put it in everything or eat it alone. It is very addictive. |
| cloudhugger | (reply to SueBee) posted 17-Jun-2007 10:32pm I don't know that chinese use it, I have just heard it refered to as that. I wonder who named it so...? |
| Gomezy3k | posted 18-Jun-2007 12:11am its ok... |
| LJD | posted 18-Jun-2007 12:59am I love it! |
| Zang | posted 19-Jun-2007 12:49pm It's okay. I don't use it a lot in my own cooking, but I have. It seems rather innocuous to have a full on hatred toward. |
| ausfox | posted 20-Jun-2007 6:24pm I like it. That website is funny though |
| Biggles | posted 26-Jun-2007 8:46pm Coriander? I do think it often tastes a little soapy, but used right, it's fine. |
| Enigma | posted 8-Jul-2007 11:07pm I can take it or leave it actually.
I like Tarragon. |
| thecomic22 | posted 17-Jul-2007 2:56pm Huh? Oh I'm sorry you were asking if I liked my clit played with. Misread the question. Having a bad day. |

| mrmarm | posted 1-Sep-2007 9:36am I never tried it and I probably wouldn't. |
| moviesnob | posted 16-Sep-2007 3:51pm I don't know. I've never made an effort to see if I like the taste. |
| gsummers | posted 26-Oct-2007 3:37pm Cilantro/Coriander, I add it to loads of dishes. Its a key ingredient in fresh homemade salsa too. Yum |
