No; I've always lived somewhere that had either enough street parking or little-to-no lawn or driveway to park on. |

Well....... today it was getting kind of full, but due to the way it's shaped, it couldn't be much like a parking lot. Maybe parallel parking. It's drive thru. |

I don't have a driveway or yard. The closest thing we have to a driveway is the tenant parking lot on the other side of the apartment complex. |

Yes! (hence the idea for the survey) We have a long driveway and a large backyard. we were expecting anywhere from 20 people to 40. So I took my car and parked it at an angle inthe driveway, than 2 other friends parked next to mine. we put a piece of tape to mark the distance, than we moved our cars in leapfrog fashion to see how many lines we could make. After we put the tape down we moved the cars away and found a few long straight sticks and measured 10 feet between each pice of tape and took black spray paint and painted the ines. They look like they have been there for a long time. the compact cars fit in there pretty good, and on the other side of the driveway I painted VIP where my Mary was to park. In the back I put up one way signs so they could drive on one side of the pole barn, park and than drive straight out around to the other side. I put up reflective tape on sticks stuck in buckets to mark where not to drive because they might be tents on the other side of the yard. It was fun.
I truly hope I didn't offend anyone that does not have a driveway. |

No,........... but this is very popular at Wimbledon, The english tennis championship as the club is right in the middle of suburbia and people who live around the area often rent out their front yards for exorbitant prices |

It is a quarterly meeting that has been held in Michigan for the past 8 years, but my Mary volunteered her new home (and we aren't really even moved in yet) to be the location of the "June meeting". We gather for spiritual reasons.
I always can tell when a meeting goes well by how the kitchen runs. And our kitchen went very well.
But the parking!! YAY!! No chaos in the lawn!!! |

Not possible unless I wanted people to run over bushes and hit trees. Driveway can handle 3 cars side by side and I can handle 4-6 cars curbside. This would never happen anyhow. |

As an adult at my own home, no. But we had large parties when I was younger at my father's house and people parked in our yard. |

Yeah. This happens when we have big cook-outs. We don't go all out and make parking spaces or anything. People just pull up and park where ever. |

dashes, dots or just left blank? |
SueBee |
Well, that sounds very cool. I'm glad it went well -- the kitchen is always most important to me, too. (Or rather, the food.)
I guess this would only be a redneck thing if you did it every weekend, or every day! There's a household in the town where I deliver mail that always has 10 or 12 cars parked in front of their house -- most of them big 4X4 pickups. That's what the survey reminded me of. |
cloudhugger | | (reply to SueBee) posted 16-Jun-2007 12:11am |
I think the difference here would be tax write off. Unless it was a 4x4 convention... |

You might be a redneck if you lay old carpet in your driveway as weed barrier.
Which is something my hubby and I did about ten days ago... had all this old carpet we had torn out of our house after we bought it... it was taking up room in the garage, and Round Up wasn't working because of the lack of sunshine and the cooler weather, so.... we recycled!

SueBee |
Did you put something over the top of it? Or was it green shag carpet? |
| cabinfever | | (reply to SueBee) posted 21-Jun-2007 12:30am |
Not shag... but it was this nauseating, awful yellow-green color, done in a wool sculptured berber-type. It is so ugly we turned it face down. The brown backing actually kind of blends in a little. |
SueBee |
If we continue to have trouble with horsetails I may have to give that a try. |
| cabinfever | | (reply to SueBee) posted 21-Jun-2007 1:01am |
Works great... but the carpet tends to bump up a bit, so after a week or two you have to watch your step. I was out straightening it (or trying to) and I looked under it... the weeds are completely gone. No carcasses, just dirt. I'm impressed... we had quite a dandelion problem cropping up. |
| Enigma | | posted 29-Jun-2007 9:12pm |
No I've never had to do this. We used to have huge family reunions at my Uncles farm and everyone parked on the lawn of course. But it was a huge lawn being a farm. |
