| drdt | posted 20-Aug-1999 11:08am I have been in two performances where I played the part of a woman, in complete costume and makeup. It did freak out a few of my friends, but most of them didn't even think I was pushing the envelope. I'd do it again if the part was right. |
| they | posted 20-Aug-1999 11:57am Yes, I do frequently for comfort. I am also growing out of my own clothes, so I have been wearing my SO's. I don't think this makes me a cross dresser as you mean it. |
| gilly | posted 20-Aug-1999 12:06pm I have an antique tailcoat and the tux shirt and pants to go with it that I wear for formal events on occasion. |
| eris | posted 20-Aug-1999 2:12pm I have cross-dressed for special occasions, but I would not say I've ever "been a cross-dresser" - it doesn't do anything special for me. |
| mandy | posted 20-Aug-1999 2:15pm I have never dressed up to try and look like or pass as a man for personal reasons. I once played a male role in a Shakespeare play. A Boatswain complete with beard. I enjoy feeling feminine so jeans and T-shirts and throwing around fifty pound feed sacks at work is about as masculine as I get. |
| Jasmine | posted 20-Aug-1999 3:42pm About 15 years ago as a married man, i would occaisionally do such, mostly as bed entertainment with my wife, i had had a few halloween experiences as a child as well. That is much different from being transgendered as i am now, which means you're operating inside out, not outside in. Cross dressing is "ooh, i'm still my birth gender, but it's tantalizing to be so close to its opposite" Now, dress me in jeans, or suit and tie, and i'm still a woman. I sincerely recommend everyone try it at least once, preferably in public with friends to help you out. |
| SueBee | posted 20-Aug-1999 4:47pm Only a couple times for a Halloween costume. I wear mens shirts sometimes, but just to be comfortable...not trying to look like a guy. |
| anonymous | posted 21-Aug-1999 10:18am I've dated a cross-dresser before. *s* |
| jaff | posted 21-Aug-1999 10:21am erm... i don't -think- so...?? kinda hard to tell, though. it seems to be fine for women to wear men's clothes. just not the other way around. so......?? i wear men's clothes frequently. but... not all at once, really. so........i'm not sure?! |
| Halo | posted 21-Aug-1999 11:14am I wouldn't say I'm a cross dresser. But when I buy jeans - I get jeans made for men. I like how they hang.;) |
| they | posted 21-Aug-1999 11:48am Halo-- me too... I also like being able to pick a length, since I'm kinda tall. |
| Jasmine | posted 21-Aug-1999 2:08pm Feminine casual wear is so much more comfortable than the guys get. On the other hand, wear nylons and a girdle with a body suit, and a trouser jump suit, and you find one more reason they should have six times as many toilets for women. |
| Mandy2 | posted 21-Aug-1999 8:00pm Sure, I do it all the time. But I wouldn't call myself a cross dresser. I sometimes wear my SO's boxers and I buy my t shirts and jeans in the mens department. But I still wear panties and bras :o) |
| lelle | posted 21-Aug-1999 11:39pm As far as I'm concerned, all clothing is appropriate for anyone, so in my opinion I do not "crossdress" (though I tend to wear pants, and sometimes even ones made for men, despite the poor fit). |
| Jasmine | posted 22-Aug-1999 6:10pm Yes, but i wear an ankh, star of david, or yin-yang just as much. |
| Gamera | posted 23-Aug-1999 1:59am yeah, but it doesn't really mean so much coming from a woman. When I was being fitted for a tux for when I was "best man" in my friend's wedding, the tailor asked if I was a security guard, and would I be wearing my gun at the wedding- I was wearing a maglight on my belt at the time. |
| jonathan | posted 23-Aug-1999 4:22pm I haven't. I really like comfortable clothes and many of the women I know seem to like men's clothes for that reason, so I'm not really interested in trying. My SO wears a number of my shirts & jackets and threatens to steal other ones when I'm not looking, she does have a couple of silk button-downs that are really comfy but aren't in colors that I like so I just rub up against her when she wears them. |
| pandora | posted 25-Aug-1999 6:55pm Yeah, I buy guys jeans and I wear boxers to bed. But that may not be quite what you're looking for. |
| lobster | posted 1-Sep-1999 8:49pm I have tried on women's clothes before. Once I dressed as a woman for halloween. Except for that one time, I have never gone out in public trying to look like a woman. |
| Maarten | posted 6-Sep-1999 12:50pm I don't like dressing up period. |
| drdt | posted 8-Sep-1999 1:21pm j: sounds like you are being manipulated :) |
| yorricks | posted 9-Oct-1999 10:04am Once for Halloween. I was a very good-looking man. |
| Mariah | posted 30-Oct-1999 2:39am I wasn't sure what to put for this. I have never dressed in "man-specific" clothing such as a tuxedo, but my dress is so casual, it's usually not applied to a specific gender. |
| Mariah | posted 30-Oct-1999 2:43am Oh. I forgot that I was once Pa Cornbread in a play. I guess I wore men's clothing. I don't really remember, though. |
| eloradanan | posted 8-Jun-2006 11:13pm I've worn men's clothing such as jeans from time to time, but I don't think that makes me a cross dresser. |
