| romkey | posted 2-Apr-2007 12:13pm I quit what most people would have considered my job a long time ago. |
| jettles | posted 2-Apr-2007 12:16pm i am saying yes but this is yes to a limited time. i could survive for maybe a month or so but not for much longer. |
| Wackadoo | posted 2-Apr-2007 1:13pm I could afford to quit my job if I had another one lined up for similar money. |
| filiasan | posted 2-Apr-2007 1:19pm I picked the last three, because I'm a special case. I don't have a job but am on SSI. The likelihood of me getting a job, around here, is less than 2%. That's how tough it is. I wouldn't work for a job unless it paid more than my supplemental income, otherwise there is no point. People like me don't get promotions. |
| mandy | posted 2-Apr-2007 1:44pm I could at the moment but would have to look for something else within a month or two to be able to keep up with my living expenses |
| Amanda | posted 2-Apr-2007 5:38pm Sure....if I wanted to live in a cardboard box. |
| cerealkiller | posted 2-Apr-2007 5:44pm Huh? I don't know of anyone who can afford to quit their job. If they could, why would they be working? I can never quit working. I must work until I die. 28 years on the mortgage and almost 55 years old, no retirement money........... |
| Scott | posted 2-Apr-2007 6:06pm Yes, if I wanted to. |
| TeddyMiller | posted 2-Apr-2007 6:23pm I could manage on my savings for quite a number of years. |
| ultamate | posted 2-Apr-2007 10:03pm No, but that's why I'm looking for a rich man. |
| Enigma | posted 2-Apr-2007 10:51pm QUIT my job? I just GOT my job.
No, I couldn't.... unfortunately, I have to do something to earn |
| Galomorro | posted 2-Apr-2007 11:12pm No job. Early retirement. But it's not easy living on it. But then it wasn't easy living on what I used to make when working, either. |
| RGirl | posted 3-Apr-2007 12:02am Don't have one. Disabled. But I can't afford to stop doing the work I do at home, such as cleaning, laundry, caring for pets and running some errands. |
| Enheduanna | posted 3-Apr-2007 11:30am No; but it's only a temporary job. |
| icurok | posted 3-Apr-2007 2:05pm Only if I got another job straight away. |
| Biggles | posted 3-Apr-2007 2:41pm I hope so, seeing as I am going to be leaving at the end of July...
Do you mean can I afford to retire? Certainly not! But I can afford to take a five-year leave of absence from full-time employment to go back to university? I think it may be possible by incurring lots of debt...I do find the prospect rather frightening to be perfectly honest, but I'll make it work somehow. |
| Jody | posted 4-Apr-2007 1:28pm I'm the sole breadwinner for my family, so I think not. |
| Cain | posted 4-Apr-2007 3:25pm Hah! God no. |
| Iseult | posted 5-Apr-2007 3:15pm Sure. But why would I want to do that? |
| cabinfever | posted 6-Apr-2007 2:07am I currently do not have a job. I am looking for one so I can contribute to the household. We could afford to have me keep being a stay-at-home mom, but we'd never get out of debt. |
| gambler | posted 6-Apr-2007 4:48pm No |
| Maarten | posted 6-Apr-2007 7:28pm Nope.
I have a mortgage. And a child. And a car. etc. |
| Maarten | (reply to RGirl) posted 6-Apr-2007 7:38pm How are you disabled?
I mean, in what way? |
| LindaH | posted 6-Apr-2007 10:12pm I have no job, and I can afford not to work. |
| RGirl | (reply to Maarten) posted 6-Apr-2007 11:40pm My brain doesn't work properly. I have trouble with memory- but this has improved immensely recently, trouble with organization, trouble following directions, mood fluctuations, irrational periods, etc. Add social anxiety. |
| Maarten | (reply to RGirl) posted 7-Apr-2007 7:16am That sounds serious. Was it caused by an accident? |
| mve17 | posted 7-Apr-2007 6:18pm Hahahah no |

| JessicaWoman99 | posted 8-Apr-2007 3:08pm Even thou I work part time and get Social Security I still need part time job
and I cannot afford to give up my job |
| RGirl | (reply to Maarten) posted 8-Apr-2007 4:37pm Yeah, sucks but I live with it and have the support of a wonderful woman and family. |
| Pomeranian | posted 29-Apr-2007 6:27am nope |
| cloudhugger | posted 30-Apr-2007 10:40am I don't have a job, other.
The question I could answer better would be Can I afford to do nothing? when I did have a 'job', I couldn't afford not to leave, the job was slowly killing me. |
| cloudhugger | (reply to jen) posted 30-Apr-2007 10:43am oooOOOOOOooooooo! Look at that "10" on your shield! Pretty fancy! |
| cloudhugger | (reply to jen) posted 1-May-2007 1:22am |
| krazykatlady | posted 19-May-2007 2:39am Technically, I'm not sure if I could quit my job as I'm self employed. Maybe I could fire myself. |
| Melf | posted 21-May-2007 2:03pm Not really. |
