I have something else to say about this topic. .......... I dont think "Crazy" is a word I would use, maybe a Plethora of People from all walks of life? |
| RGirl | | posted 25-Mar-2007 7:33pm |
Average. |
| Enigma | | posted 25-Mar-2007 7:36pm |
I think there are less than the "normal" amount of crazy people. |
LindaH | | posted 25-Mar-2007 7:50pm |
We have an average number of crazy people, but probably above average amount of eccentric and exceptionally bright people. |

exceptionally bright people............... Thank You ! |
romkey | | posted 25-Mar-2007 8:27pm |
I think that there are more "crazy" people out there than you might think. |

You're all so crazy you can't even see it! |
Iseult | | posted 25-Mar-2007 9:00pm |
No. I think that Internet in general allows people to express their "crazy" side more easily and SC is just one of many examples to how people behave. |
| ausfox | | posted 25-Mar-2007 9:39pm |
I think there is actually slight less 'crazy' people on SC |
jettles | | posted 25-Mar-2007 10:41pm |
i truly think it is the average number but since we talk so often and get to know each other, the craziness stands out a bit more! |
they | | posted 25-Mar-2007 10:48pm |
I think that SC attracts a different type of person now than it did when I first came here.
It's a totally different scene. |

I think it probably has to do with the addition of different features like chat, forum, replies, private replies, etc. That stuff wasn't available to us 8 years ago... Back then, people came here everyday for surveys just.. I think the addition of all those things has attracted a broader range of people...

Yes. Survey Central is the first Internet forum that I joined. I'm coming up on my seventh year next month. In the past couple of years, I've joined into a few others. Using them as a comparison, I'd say that Survey Central definately attracts a much more "crazy" cast of characters. None of the other ones even come close! I refuse to name names or provide examples however... |

Just slighly higher, simply becuse it's online, which attracts people who don't leave the house as much, and are developing more independent thoughts than mainstream television offers.
Aside from that, the crowd here is somwhat zany and debative, and thus attracts more of the same. The real wackos I meet are at school or on the street. No geographic social location seems to have a monopoly on them. |
Kristal_Rose | | (reply to they) posted 28-Mar-2007 4:53am |
Different how so? I think were all more calm and conservative now, which is what I would expect as us primary users age, and yet remain the base which attracts new users. No one's taking their own or others' arguments as seriously anymore, or maybe as seriously, but not with the same involved flaming passion. Things are more comfortable now. People aren't as worried that their chat partners are space aliens trying to steal their identity. |
they |
You answered your own question.
It's more of a friendly, laid back atmosphere.
When I first came to SC, it seemed to be PACKED with some pretty stuffy people...
As I said, It's just a totally different scene. |
LindaH |
Independent thinking isn't crazy. It's healthier than mainstream TV thinking. |
Kristal_Rose | | (reply to they) posted 29-Mar-2007 4:38am |
A bit stuffier, a lot more paranoid and volatile. |
Kristal_Rose | | (reply to LindaH) posted 29-Mar-2007 4:45am |
Isn't unique and atypical a fairly standard definition of crazy? If you get deeper into the definition, it's about being in touch with reality, but what reality? The common mainstream norm. If you disfavor cats, you might have ailuromalphilia. Talk to your doctor now and see how Pusiblis may help you enjoy life by enjoying the company of cats, and the important people in your life who keep cats. |
LindaH |
There's no real good reason to have everything in common with the mainstream norm. I wouldn't call uniqueness insanity. Artists are perfectly functional in their uniqueness, and use it for gain. What's to fix?
I'm reminded of my aversion to sitting with my back to a window. I see nothing online about that. Anyone else have that? Maybe I should make a survey. |
Kristal_Rose | | (reply to LindaH) posted 29-Mar-2007 6:43pm |
That would be a good one. I prefer to face out windows when feasable. I once kicked the leg out from under my bros chair when he was a kid leaning back. He crashed through one of the floor to ceiling windows. I bet he doesn't like windows behind him either.
Do your friends have difficulty understanding you? Do you avoid others to arrange shapes and colors instead? You may have Right-brain Favoritism. Ask your doctor if Ignorartis could help you. Ignorartis is not for everyone and could cause difficulties for those with careers in engineering, writing, advertising, or the entertainment industry. Side effects may include boredom, apathy, and suicide. Put an end to distracting fantasy and finally start seeing the world in practical black and white with Ignorartis. |
