Who is your favourite supermodel?

Of course, survey creator, you know you've launched a barrage of anti supermodel tirades here. Here's my contribution:

I don't get the whole supermodel thing. These women are famous for wearing outrageously expensive clothes and walking around in them. Period.

They are directed in everything that they do, they are pampered, most of them act like the future of humanity rests on their looks, and they are paid stupendous amounts to be skinny and photogenic. When they do bother speaking, most of them ruin the illusion of perfection by making comments that surpass the limits of stupidity. Their greatest contribution to society is to make every normal looking woman doubt her own attractiveness and self-esteem, and turning a whole generation of teen-aged girls into self-absorbed wannabe fashionistas. I'll just mention in passing the increase in anorexia cases as part of the supermodels' legacy.

All this to say that I think supermodels should be re-assigned to professions more rightly suited to their real abilities, like, say working on a McDonald's crew, or maybe something more humble.

But hey, I could be wrong...

I understand your opinion, but I wasn't looking to get into a big discussion on any of the serious issues that you bring up. It's just intended to be a light hearted survey.

I didn't men to be so heavy. I've got three teen-aged daughters and I really get pissed at how much media affects their worldview. Beauty is very narrowly defined and who's in and who's out is based on extremely superficial reasoning. So I get a little miffed when these "stick figures with poofy lips" (to quote Edna Mode) get elevated to the status of societal models. My girls are media savvy enough, but they often times value appearances more than substance. They'll see the light eventually (because I bring up the issue every so often), but for now it's kinda frustrating.

I don't know most of these people without pictures. If I did I don't think I'd have a favourite anyway. They exist is all but mean nothing more to me.

I like Tyra, Claudia, Linda, and Christy. Generally I dislike models because they don't do much.

I'm Canadian and I love Aussie wines. You guys know how to make wines that have balls.

Don't have one. In the 80s there was a woman who did L'oreal ads in Vogue who had a beautiful body and face, full figured I guess you could say and she was known for that very reason. I had her plastered all over my walls. I'm pretty sure it was Loreal.

My husband and I love Aussie wine for that reason too, especially the reds.

You can't go wrong with an Australian red. For whites, though, we usually drink New Zealand wines.

I really liked Kathy Ireland and Jill Goodacre.

They're all pretty ladies. I'm not overly fond of Naomi Campbell, too much of a diva. And I just don't understand what everyone see's in Kate Moss. Pretty? Yeah. Gorgeous? Not so much.

I'll say Tyra Banks , because she seems to be the most prolific at the moment - not for modelling but for all the other stuff she's doing.

I like this survey - I knew as soon as I read the question that people wouldn't be climbing over each other to give good answers, but I could talk about supermodels all day.

Not a big fan of whites, but I'll try out NZ wines.

The Kiwi whites are nice. If it's hot out, a white is nicer than a red at times. I don't care for sweet wine at all, but a nice Savignon Blanc hits the spot sometimes. Chardonnay is not for me.

Agreed, on a hot day a chilled white does go down better than a red. Maybe I'll give the kiwi sauvignon a try then.

He may not be much to look at but holy fudge can he sing! I am a Seal fan, and I begrudge him nothing.

That is so funny the way you worded that I wondered the same thing, but you know what they say, beauty is only skin deep. I'm sure people think the same thing when they see me with my hubby not really, just kidding.

I have no opinion on supermodels, but I have a tiny bit of familiarity with Tyra Banks. I love what I have seen of her attitude.
