Why do men button their 'dress' shirts from the bottom up?

The shirts I am referring to are those that are closed with buttons only. Women close their blouses from the top down. Why the difference?

It is because otherwise they will do them up out of order and have to start again

Not sure. I always button my shirts from the neck down; and can never recall buttoning a dress shirt from the bottom upwards. However, given that they are not opened up like normal shirts, it makes some sense to do this perhaps.

They do? News to me! I don't know. Whenever I used to wear button-up shirts, which wasn't that often and not recently, I never paid the slightest attention to how I did it. But then I didn't have any kind of male role models like brothers, fathers, etc. to watch. So tell us why.

You mean to tell me they do??? I never ever knew this and how interesting
and yes I do close my blouse from the top and men I wonder why this is

Do they? I'll have to watch the other half next time he buttons it. Gramma told me that's the way you do it so you don't miss a button.

I didn't know they did. I wonder if I've totally screwed Caleb up. I always buttoned his from the top down, now he does the same. Just great. I've turned my kid gay! *winking raspberry*

Here's what I think. Since men tend to carry their weight in their, ummm, abdomens; perhaps if they start from the bottom up, they can ensure the garment will fit. It's a time saver! *laughing out loud*

How stereotypical of you. I button them bottom up, and I'm woman. It works better for me because there's far less chance of mistake (namely, button in the wrong hole). I guess most women do it from top down because they're anxious to cover up their boobs.

They do? I don't know. I'm a woman and I button from top down, because it's easier to hold onto the button and material. They stay closer together. Bottom up, they separate when you are pulling it down tight. It's annoying and awkward!

Women button from the top down? Why? That seems so dumb. I guess you better start calling me a man.
But the reason they button from the bottom up is because it's more logical..

It is because you are less likely to button the shirt wrong if you start at the bottom and we all know that guys aren't too bright. *wink*

Buttoning down, men want to lead women's eyes toward their crotch and by buttoning up, women want to lead men's eyes toward their chests. You guessed it, I have no clue why...

Since when do I start at the top? I hate being generalized.

I start at the bottom when buttoning a shirt because it's easier to make sure you are matching up buttons to holes correctly.

They do? It sounds like a false assumption to me. I vary how I button my shirts and my shorts have balls hanging in them.
