| bill | posted 10-Aug-1999 1:15pm Jerry Lee Lewis? Great Balls of Fire? Comedian? |
| cpierson | posted 10-Aug-1999 1:44pm And yet, I still prefer Jerry Lee Lewis's comedy to Rosie's ... ;) |
| fooyun | posted 10-Aug-1999 2:13pm Rosie O'Donnell has sold out, Chris Elliot has no marketable skills let alone talent, Jerry Lee Lewis is bleh, and Dennis Miller I haven't seen in years...poor choices. |
| jaff | posted 10-Aug-1999 3:27pm dennis leary and jah-neen gar-off-oh-low (no idea how to spell them...hehe) |
| drdt | posted 10-Aug-1999 4:47pm Allow me to be the first t say, you have a weird concept of funny, brother. |
| they | posted 10-Aug-1999 5:18pm Drew Carey, what jaff said, Norm McDonald, David Spade, Ellen was funny until she had a mission, and Roseanne was funny until she got too famous. |
| jjg | posted 10-Aug-1999 6:43pm Jerry Lee Lewis is a comedian? |
| Jasmine | posted 10-Aug-1999 7:32pm Jerry Lewis is the only one I know, and i don't like him. Robin Williams. |
| pandora | posted 10-Aug-1999 7:59pm I'm not familiar with any of them. |
| mandy | posted 11-Aug-1999 2:05am Tom Green is the funniest human on the planet. |
| Pomeranian | posted 11-Aug-1999 2:41am mandy: I think Tom Green is funny too...however, if I saw him walking down the street with a camera crew, I would RUN FOR MY LIFE. |
| supplicant | posted 11-Aug-1999 2:46am Top comedians? If this was the best the world had to offer I'd shoot myself. |
| Jody | posted 11-Aug-1999 9:13am Do you mean Jerry Lewis? Jerry Lee Lewis sang "Great Balls of Fire" and married his 13 -year-old cousin and played piano, I think. Steve Martin is a very hilarious comedian. |
| fooyun | posted 11-Aug-1999 3:19pm I like Andy Kaufman but I'm too young to remember him. |
| Jasmine | posted 11-Aug-1999 5:00pm 'And you can't return them cause they got cat slobber all over them' Kaufman was brilliant. I met a young woman talking with her mother yesterday, who's whole life was kaufman'ish. You could tell from her the observations of her surroundings she was discoursing, that she had great insight into ergonomic engineering, marketing, etc. and yet had dissed social values to the extent of appearing dysfuntional. I loved how she went on about how paperbags were obviously designed for popping behind people. An argument her mother was taking seriously. I'm going to have to write a survey about the mentally disabled, i suppose most are tragic cases, but most of the onesi know are just too gifted for mundane life, and a negative label protects them from becoming celebrities. like Chancey Gardner, or his inverse, depending on how you interpreted the book. |
| Dolemite | posted 11-Aug-1999 7:11pm Top? Uh, okay.. back to la la land... Alright, I like Dennis Miller to some extent, his HBO rants are usually pretty funny, and his guest are great. But those others shouldn't even be associated with the word "comedian." I'm more a fan of Chris Rock and the irreverent George Carlin. |
| mandy | posted 12-Aug-1999 1:09am Pom...I would tackle Tom and beat him with his microphone then I would take over his show..."This is the Mandy show...... it's not the Tom Green show....this is my favorite show...because I stole his show"..... I have actually exchanged email with Glen Humplik a couple of times. He came to the conclusion that I was a mean gurl and I need to see a shrink???? go figure???? |
| kirst | posted 12-Aug-1999 9:08am "Top"??? I rated them all "worst". I don't care for any of them. |
| mandy | posted 12-Aug-1999 1:19pm Rowen Atkinson? Mr. Bean? He makes pop come out of my nose. |
| supplicant | posted 12-Aug-1999 1:34pm I thought the first season of Mr. Bean the first time 'round was good, but it got very tired very quickly. Black Adder on the other hand... :) My favourite comedians would have to be Billy Connolly, Ed Byrne and a local act by the name of Tripod (ack, nary an American in sight...) I like Eddie Murphy, particulalry his stand-up in Raw and Delirious (which I loved when I saw five or six years ago), but lately he's been slipping imho... Robin Williams tends to be very very good, but though I like his comedy and his acting he doesn't actually make me *laugh* as much as Billy, Ed etc. Seinfeld started off well then just got into the same old rut and couldn't come up with new material. The Simpsons have their ups and downs but overall tend to be a good show. Frasier was once brilliant, now less so but still a good show (which unfortunately rates poorly here and gets very very little coverage). |
| mandy | posted 12-Aug-1999 1:50pm Oh I forgot Tracey Ulman(sp?) |
| Renee | posted 12-Aug-1999 6:47pm what about George Carlin, Sam Kinison, Whoppi Goldburg, Adam Sandler or Dennis Leary? |
| eris | posted 12-Aug-1999 7:41pm I despise Adam Sandler. |
| pandora | posted 12-Aug-1999 8:22pm I would marry Adam Sandler today if he asked me! |
| fooyun | posted 12-Aug-1999 8:57pm What about Mike Meyers?! |
| they | posted 12-Aug-1999 9:21pm I don't like mike meyers or adam sandler... they don't make me laugh.. I think that Robin Williams is better in dramatic roles than as a comedian. I heard once that he is manic depressive. Supplicant: I LOVED Delirious too. The only thing I ever saw Tom Green do that made me laugh was when he sexually harassed his parents on camera. I've also seen him do things that made me hate him. |
| Jasmine | posted 12-Aug-1999 9:51pm Robin Williams owned a ranch full of disabled animals. I thought was really cool. |
| romkey | posted 13-Aug-1999 9:14am Dr. Evil makes me laugh |
| drdt | posted 13-Aug-1999 2:16pm jen: how about a three-legged giraffe? |
| Jasmine | posted 13-Aug-1999 4:07pm Much, much funnier. |
| drdt | posted 13-Aug-1999 4:44pm Back on topic, Victor Borge is the funniest man alive, hopefully for at least a little while longer. Dunno about these younguns you keep touting. |
| bigkim65 | posted 14-Aug-1999 3:05am I was hoping for more choices than just 4. What happened to...George Carlin, Gallager, Howie Mandel, and Jeff Foxworthy...just to mention a few. You obviously have a limited idea of funny. |
| pandora | posted 15-Aug-1999 1:35pm Mike Meyers, maybe. Probably. |
| SueBee | posted 15-Aug-1999 8:24pm Hmmm...these are top comedians? I like Rosie the best out of this list. Fooyun - How did Rosie "sell out"? Must be something I never heard about. |
| Jody | posted 16-Aug-1999 10:14am Richard Lewis is pretty funny |
| eris | posted 16-Aug-1999 1:47pm Mike Meyers definitely, pandora! |
| SueBee | posted 20-Aug-1999 1:30am Oh yeah, baby! |
| pandora | posted 26-Aug-1999 11:15pm He is 'hairy like animal' but I'm not sure that I really go for that. :) |
| Mariah | posted 30-Oct-1999 5:55pm bad choices. :( |
| ILJ | posted 19-Nov-1999 3:56pm I'm pretty sure Jerry Lee Lewis is not a comedian but he's a hell of a lot funnier than Rosie O'Donnell. In fact, I think Miller is the only one on this list who could be said to be a comedian, as opposed to a comic actor, etc. Why not have some *good* comedians on here like George Carlin, Bill Hicks, Lenny Bruce, Robert Schimmel, Chris Rock, and the list goes on and on and does not include three of the people listed as choices... |
| eloradanan | posted 19-May-2006 2:51pm Jerry Lee Lewis isn't a comedian, but Jerry Lewis is. That being said, I don't find any of these people to be funny. |
| mross | posted 18-Jan-2007 3:10am I think you've confused Jerry Lee Lewis with Jerry Lewis. Off the list, the only one I find mildly funny is Dennis Miller. |
